Turkey Trail Trot and The Leftovers Race

Turkey Trail Trot and The Leftovers Race are two days of trail events at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township, Michigan on November 26 and 27, 2026. The program includes in-person trail races and a virtual option with mailed packet items.

Distances offered include:

  • Thursday distances: Half marathon, 6 mileish, 4 mile, 2 mile
  • Friday distances: 6 mileish, 4 mile, 2 mile
  • Virtual option: participant chooses distance and location

All courses run on 100 percent dirt trails with leaves, rocks and roots. The route includes twists and turns and rolling to steep hills, and is not a road race. Thursday uses wave starts and runners select a wave during registration. There is a three hour time limit for all distances; half marathon runners must meet a midway cutoff to continue on course. No strollers or dogs are allowed; children may participate with guardian permission or accompaniment.

Registration items and services noted by the organizer include chip timing, finish line snacks and water, on course aid stations, and a choice of a tech long sleeve event shirt or event beanie. Each race day has a unique finisher medal and awards for overall and age group placements. Early packet pickup is scheduled November 22, 23 and 24 at listed locations. A park pass is required for vehicles; daily passes cost ten dollars and no fee is charged on Thanksgiving day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
