Tower to Castle Ultra 30

The Tower to Castle Ultra is a 30.9 mile point to point event on Saturday 26 September 2026, running from Blackpool Tower to Lancaster Castle along coastal ways and country sections. The route includes a short sea crossing from Fleetwood to Knott End using a ferry.

The course surface and sections:

  • 9.3 miles promenade
  • 0.2 mile sea crossing Fleetwood to Knott End
  • 6 miles quiet country roads
  • 15 miles coastal paths and disused railway

The route is way-marked, with road crossings controlled by marshals. Elevation gain is about +472 ft and descent about -413 ft. There are three compulsory checkpoints that will supply water and a selection of snacks, and a drink is provided at the finish. Mandatory kit includes a waterproof coat with sealed seams, long sleeved base layer, minimum 1 litre water capacity, fully charged mobile phone, foil blanket and whistle.

Entry requires pre registration and is limited to people aged 18 or over. Entry closes on 20 September 2026. There are no entries on the day. Return coaches to Blackpool are available for a fee and must be pre booked; one competitor bag can be transferred to the finish within specified size limits. Tackle the Coppice fell race in Accrington on Tue 9 Jun 2026, a spirited 6.6 km course with 310 m of climb starting from the Whitakers Arms. Day entry only means it is ideal for last minute plans and teams are welcome.
