Tower to Castle Ultra 30

Scheduled for Saturday 26 September 2026, the Tower to Castle Ultra covers 30.9 miles between Blackpool Tower and Lancaster Castle. The route follows the promenade, coastal paths and some country road sections and includes a short sea crossing by ferry from Fleetwood to Knott End. The course is way-marked and road crossings are managed by marshals.

Route composition:

Elevation changes on the course are modest with approximately +472 ft and -413 ft overall. There are compulsory checkpoints along the route; each checkpoint supplies water and a selection of supplementary snacks. A drink will be available at the finish. Checkpoint locations are published to registered entrants before the event.

Mandatory kit includes a waterproof coat or running jacket with sealed seams, a long sleeved base layer, at least 1 litre of water, a fully charged mobile phone, a foil blanket and a whistle. Entrants may have one competitor bag transferred to the finish; bag dimensions should not exceed 56 x 45 x 25 cm and must be dropped at registration. Return coach transport to Blackpool is provided for a fee and must be prebooked.

A midweek fell race in Wray on 28 April 2026 covering 11 km with 335 m climb. Entry is on the day only with a £5 fee and teams of three are permitted.

Experience a traditional fell race in the scenic Lake District with the Storth Stampede. This event features a nine kilometer senior course and dedicated junior races for younger athletes looking to test their skills on the hills.

A club-organised fell race of 6 miles with 1109 ft of ascent held alongside junior races for ages 6 to under 18. The event is registered with the Fell Runners Association and forms part of the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix series.

A midweek fell race around Scorton and Nicky Nook covering 5 miles (8 km) with about 1000 ft of ascent. The FRA-licensed event has a 140-runner limit, mandatory kit checks and free soup and a roll for participants afterwards.
