Tour of Pendle is an AL category fell race based at Barley Village Hall in the South/West Pennines. The course covers approximately 27 km / 16.8 miles with about 1473 m of climb. The minimum age for entry is 18.

Pre-entry is available and entries open on 1 August and close on 31 October. There is a maximum field of 450 runners; entry on the day is allowed only if places remain. The pre-entry fee is £16 and the entry on the day fee is £25 when available.

The race is run under a Permit with associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA. Competitors must carry compulsory equipment: waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and an attached hood, hat, gloves, map of the route, compass, whistle and emergency food. GPS devices are not permitted.

A head count is held near the village hall before the race and access beyond the gateway lane is not permitted before the event. Runners who reach a closed control will be directed back to Barley Village Hall to report retirement. Team prizes are available, with men counting four scores and women counting three, and only one men's and one women's team prize awarded per club.
