Tour des Marches Challenge Walk : Wistanstow Village Hall

The event offers three waymarked walking courses that start and finish at Wistanstow Village Hall. Routes run through southwest Shropshire and pass through local towns along a chiefly rural, undulating landscape.

  • 26 miles full circuit from Wistanstow Village Hall
  • 18 miles Wistanstow to Bishop's Castle
  • 12 miles Wistanstow to Clun

For much of the route participants are within the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The course visits Clun and Bishop's Castle and includes varied terrain typical of the area.

Support and facilities are provided on the route. The entry fee includes a light breakfast and there are snacks and drinks at all checkpoints; participants are asked to bring a mug. Toilets are available at two main checkpoints and a hot meal is served at the finish with vegetarian and vegan options. Maps and a detailed route description are supplied, and certificates and a finishers list are provided.

The event has an entry limit of 150 and a waiting list is used once the limit is reached. No entries are accepted on the day. Minimum age is 14; under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Trail runs nearby

A short pairs race on Haddon Hill in Carding Mill Valley where one runner sprints to the top, tags a partner, and the partner runs back down. Entries are on the day only at £10 per pair and the minimum age is over 12.

Trail races of 10 mile and 5 mile in Aymestrey on 19 July 2026, with a climb to the Iron Age hillfort at Croft Ambrey. Routes are fully marked and marshalled with water stations, on the day entries if capacity and a juniors 2 km race.

A multi-distance run along a disused railway between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth, offering distances from 9 miles to 37 miles with 9.4 mile laps and aid stations every 4.7 miles.

A short, steep fell race near Middletown on 29 July 2026 covering 2.8 km with 440 m ascent. Pre entry via SI Entries costs £7 or £10 on the day; junior races are included.
