The Tour des Marches Challenge Walk takes place on September 12, 2026. It is based at Wistanstow Village Hall in Shropshire.

Distances

Participants can select one of three distances:

  • 12 miles to Clun
  • 18 miles to Bishop's Castle
  • 26 miles on a circular route back to Wistanstow

Course Description

The undulating route travels through southwest Shropshire, including the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It visits the towns of Clun and Bishop's Castle.

Event Features

The entry fee includes a snack breakfast, snacks and drinks at checkpoints, and a hot meal at the finish with vegetarian and vegan options. Maps and a detailed route description are provided. Transport is available for retirees and for participants on the 12 and 18-mile walks. Certificates and a finishers list are issued.

Entry Information

Entries are open from April 5 to September 5, 2026. The event has an entry limit of 160 participants; once full, a waiting list is used. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA members and £20 for non-members. No entries are accepted on the day.

Participant Requirements

Participants must be at least 14 years old; those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Appropriate equipment for the walk and weather conditions is required. Dogs are not permitted.

Additional Notes

A multi distance running event along the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth on 21 February 2026. Distances range from 9 miles to 37 miles with 9.4 mile laps and aid stations every 4.7 miles.

Tackle a 9.5 km off-road challenge with two laps around the scenic tracks of Kinver Edge. All finishers get goodies and a medal, with prizes for the top three in each gender. Registration is limited to 100 runners, starting at 09:30.

The Castle 2 Castle #Ultra is a 32-mile running challenge connecting Welshpool to Chirk. Starting at Powis Estate, the route mixes flat paths with gentle inclines. Finishers are rewarded with a commemorative plate at Caffi Wylfa.

A winter fell race in the Shropshire hills overlooking Carding Mill Valley. Organized by Mercia Fell Runners, this 7.8km challenge requires full mandatory kit. Experience a partially marked course under WFRA rules.
