Tour des Marches Challenge Walk

The event starts and finishes at Wistanstow Village Hall and offers three routes through southwest Shropshire. The course is undulating and passes through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, visiting Clun and Bishop's Castle on the way.

  • 12 miles: Wistanstow to Clun.
  • 18 miles: Wistanstow to Bishop's Castle.
  • 26 miles: longer circuit visiting both towns and returning to Wistanstow.

Entry is limited to 150 places; further entries are placed on a waiting list when the limit is reached. Participants must be 14 or older; under‑18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Runners are welcome. Full support and transport are provided for retirees and for those on the 12 and 18 mile routes. Maps, a detailed route description, certificates and a finishers list are supplied.

The entry fee includes a snack breakfast, snacks and drinks at checkpoints, and a hot meal at the finish with vegetarian and vegan options. Toilets are available at two main checkpoints. Participants are asked to carry appropriate equipment for the duration of their walk and for the predicted weather. Dogs are not permitted because the route passes through cattle and sheep country. The event has raised over £22,000 for causes within Wistanstow Parish and for the Firefighters Charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
