Tour de Trails - series overview

Tour de Trails is a series of four winter trail races held in the Rockford, Illinois area from December 20, 2025 to March 21, 2026. Individual race and series entries are offered, including options for all four races with or without SWAG. Proceeds support activities of the Rockford Road Runners. Events are winter trail runs; participants may encounter ice, snow and very cold conditions. Events can be cancelled by state, county, or city park officials, and there are no refunds if a race is cancelled.

• 3 Mile - Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve, Rockford (Dec 20)
• 6 Mile - Rock Cut State Park boat launch, Loves Park (Jan 17)
• 9 Mile - Byron Forest Preserve, Byron (Feb 21)
• 12 Mile - Severson Dells / Funderburg / Coleman Forest Preserve, Rockford (Mar 21)

Packet pickup and race-day registration take place at each event site from 8:45 to 9:45 am. The 9- and 12-mile races offer an early start option for runners maintaining a 13+ minute per mile pace; pace verification is requested at registration. Course maps will be posted on the Rockford Road Runners race calendar. Awards include certificates for first place male and female and five-year age groups; places 1-3 will receive personalized awards that are mailed after the event. Rockford Road Runners club members receive a 10% discount; there are no discounts for day-of registration. Selected event fees: 6-mile and 9-mile $30 ($15 ages 0-18); 12-mile $35 ($15 ages 0-18).
