Event overview

Tour de Trails is a series of winter trail races in the Rockford, Illinois area held from December 20, 2025 to March 21, 2026. The series includes four separate trail races and a series registration option. Events take place at forest preserves and state park locations in and near Rockford and Byron. Winter trail conditions may include ice, snow and very cold temperatures. Events are subject to cancellation by park or health authorities; there are no refunds if a race is cancelled. Proceeds support activities of the Rockford Road Runners.

Individual race fees listed in the event information are generally $30, with the 12 mile at $35 and youth prices noted for younger age groups. Series fees are shown: $125 for all four races and $80 for the all-four-races no SWAG option. Packet pickup for each race is on site from 8:45 to 9:45 am. The 9 mile and 12 mile events offer an early start option for runners who maintain a 13 minute or slower per mile pace; pace verification is requested at registration. Course maps will be posted on the Rockford Road Runners calendar. Awards include certificates for first place overall and five-year age groups, with personalized 1-3 place recognition mailed after the events.
