Obstacle Course Race for Dogs and Owners

Tough Mutter is an obstacle course race located on the Aske estate near Richmond, North Yorkshire. The event features off-road routes through marshland, bogs, woodland, and hilly terrain. Participants navigate tracks and fields filled with various obstacles designed for climbing, jumping, wading, swinging, and crawling. The final section of the course includes an 850-meter assault course with deep mud, water, and more than 24 individual obstacles.

Available distances and categories include:

  • 10 km Adult and one dog (minimum age 18)
  • 10 km Child without a dog (ages 16-18)
  • 5 km Adult and one dog (minimum age 18)
  • 5 km Child without a dog (ages 12-18)

The 5 km course contains a minimum of 38 obstacles, while the 10 km course features at least 53 obstacles. Obstacles are categorized by their suitability for dogs. Some are designed for both the owner and the dog to complete, while others are intended for the human participant only. Each obstacle location includes a tie-up point where dogs can be secured while the owner completes specific sections.
