Tough Mutter
Tough Mutter is an off road obstacle course race for dogs and their owners held at Aske estate near Richmond in North Yorkshire, adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Routes run through marsh, bog, woodland, rough hilly ground, tracks and fields and end with an 850 meter assault section of mud and water containing 24 plus obstacles.
Obstacles are marked to show those that can be done with a dog, those only the person can do, and those where the participant decides if the dog can take part. Each obstacle includes a tie up point to secure a dog while the person completes the element. Obstacles are spread around the course and many have more than one component such as climbing, jumping, wading, swinging and crawling.
Available course types include:
- 10 km Adult with one dog
- 5 km Adult with one dog
- 10 km Child without dog
- 5 km Child without dog
Adult entries with a dog require participants aged 18 years or older. Children aged 12 to 18 may enter without a dog; children aged 12 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult and those aged 16 to 18 may enter the 10 km child course. Entry fees range from £27 to £40 and adding an extra dog costs £15. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
