Tintern Fete Hill Race
The Tintern Fete Hill Race is a new race held as part of the annual Tintern Village Fete on Saturday 27 June 2026. The course covers 4.2 km with approximately 215 m of ascent and uses the fete field for both start and finish. Entry on the day costs £5.00.
The route leaves the field onto a short road section, crosses the Wireworks Bridge and follows the former railway track for around 200 m. It then turns left onto a stone staircase and continues uphill. The lower part of the climb follows a steep, rocky path; the upper section continues on a forestry road. A turnaround marker is placed on the Offa's Dyke path near the top. The return route dog-legs left along the forest road and follows the Shorncliff Climbers Path back down to the top of the stone staircase, then retraces the outward route across the bridge and road to a downhill finish in the fete field.
The race will be conducted under WFRA rules. Parking at the fete is described as very limited. The no 69 bus provides a service between Monmouth and Chepstow that stops in Tintern. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
