Tintern Fete Hill Race
The Tintern Fete Hill Race is a new hill race held as part of the Tintern Village Fete on Saturday 27th June 2026. The course is listed as 4.2 km / 215 m and is the first running of this event.
The race starts and finishes in the Fete Field at the event HQ near the Anchor Inn in Tintern NP16 6TE. The route leaves the field onto a short road section that will be marshalled, crosses the Wireworks Bridge and follows a former railway track for about 200 m. It then turns left onto a stone staircase and climbs. The lower half of the ascent is a steep, rocky path and the upper section follows a forestry road. A turnaround marker will be located on the far side of the top Offa's Dyke path.
On the return the route dog-legs left along the forest road, joins the Shorncliff Climbers Path down to the top of the stone staircase, and then retraces the outward route across the bridge and along the road to a downhill finish in the Fete Field.
The race will be run under WFRA rules. Parking at the fete will be very limited. The No 69 bus runs between Monmouth and Chepstow through Tintern and is recommended for access. Entry on the day is listed at £5.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
