Event overview

The Tinahely Half Marathon takes place in Tinahely, County Wicklow, on Saturday 15 August 2026. The race is a new event as part of the inaugural Leinster Weekend and is included in the Leinster Half-Marathon League. Tinahely is in south Wicklow, approximately 40 minutes west of Rathnew. Route and logistics are in development and subject to permissions.

Course details

The course distance is 21.00 km with total climb of 1100 m. The event is rated difficulty 9 (Difficult Terrain; >500 m ascent; >10 km). Only major junctions will be marked and GPS devices are not allowed. Route description and prizegiving location are to be confirmed.

Mandatory kit and race requirements

The event requires Level C - Advanced kit. Runners must bring a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry a minimum of 500 mL water, emergency food, a map of the route/area, and a compass. The exact kit to be carried may be finalised on the day and will be advised at registration. Failure to have the required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification; random checks may be carried out.

Trial race status

This race will serve as the second of two trial races for the Nasego Mountain Running Six Nations event in Italy on 5-6 September 2026. Qualifying athletes must participate in both the Vertical and Trofeo races held on consecutive days. The first trial race is the Lug Uphill on 14 August; qualifying times will be added later.
