Lug Uphill

Lug Uphill is an uphill mountain running event in Barravore, County Wicklow, held on Friday 7 August 2026. The event is part of the Irish Uphill League and is the last race of the league. Entries are capped at 50 and entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 3 August 2026 and close Thursday 6 August 2026.

There are two route options:

  • Long course: 3.6 km with 720 m climb, entrants must be age 18+ in 2026.
  • Short course: 4.0 km with 490 m climb, entrants must be age 14+ in 2026.

Race marking will show only major junctions. GPS devices are not allowed. The mandatory kit level is B (standard) and must be brought to the race; required items include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day and advised at registration. Random kit checks may be carried out and failure to have required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.

Organisers have booked camping in the Glenmalure Valley beside the Avonbeg river with coin-operated showers and portaloos on site. The race will also serve as the first trial for the Nasego Mountain Running Six Nations event in Italy on 5-6 September 2026; a second trial is scheduled at the Tinahely half marathon on 8 August.
