Lug Uphill : Barravore, County Wicklow

Lug Uphill is a mountain running event held in Barravore, County Wicklow. It is part of the inaugural Leinster Weekend and serves as the final race of the Irish Uphill League. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open on 3 August 2026 and close on 6 August 2026. The event is capped at 50 entries.

There are two route options:

  • Long course: 6.2 km, 755 m climb
  • Short course: 4 km, 490 m climb

Age eligibility: the long course is open to runners aged 18 and over in 2026; the short course is open to runners and walkers aged 14 and over in 2026. GPS devices are not permitted. Course marking will indicate only major junctions. Mandatory Level B kit is required and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag; runners should also have a means to carry the kit. Failure to carry required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification and random kit checks may be conducted.

The event will be used as the first trial race for selection to the Nasego Mountain Running Six Nations event (5–6 September 2026); qualifying athletes must participate in both trial races. Camping for the Leinster Weekend is organised in the Glenmalure Valley with coin-operated showers and portaloos; other local accommodation options are available.
