Thunderbunny Trail Races

The Thunderbunny Trail Races take place on May 9, 2026 at Strouds Run State Park in Athens, OH. The event is in its 11th year and is described as Athens County's first and only ultramarathon.

The course starts and ends on the namesake 3-mile Thunderbunny Trail. Runners follow a loop around Dow Lake and travel up and over the Athens Ridge to a city overlook. The route is reported to be about 95% singletrack and passes through terrain of the Appalachian Foothills. The course is characterized as runnable and uses mostly flowing singletrack trails.
