Thunderbunny Trail Races

The Thunderbunny Trail Races take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Strouds Run State Park near Athens, Ohio. This marks the event's 11th year.

Participants can choose from three distances on trail courses:

  • 50K (ultramarathon)
  • 25K
  • 11K

All courses start and finish on the three-mile Thunderbunny Trail. The 50K course includes a loop around Dow Lake and traverses the "Athens Ridge," offering views overlooking the city. The route is approximately 95% singletrack trail, described as smooth and flowing, set within the Appalachian Foothills. Organizers note the courses are runnable.

The shorter 25K and 11K races use the same trail network as the 50K event. Registration closes on Thursday, May 7, at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
