Three Shires Fell Race
The Three Shires Fell Race takes place on Saturday 20 September 2025 with a new route for 2025. It is category AL and covers 22 km / 12.4 miles with 1535 m / 4003 ft of ascent. The event is sponsored by OMM and counts as a counter for the Lakeland Classics Trophy. Entry is by SportIdent entries from 1 July until Wednesday 18 September, with a field limit of 350; there are no entries on the day. Entry fees are £16 for FRA members and £18 for non-FRA members.
Venue, course and safety
The venue is Tilberthwaite Farm. Organisers advise car sharing because of narrow roads. The route starts and finishes at Tilberthwaite Farm and includes checkpoints at Lingmoor, Pike of Blisco, Three Shires Stone, Great Carrs, Wetherlam and a tarn (grid references provided by the organiser). Two flagged sections direct runners between the farm and the bottom of Lingmoor, and from the top of Tilberthwaite Gill back to Tilberthwaite to ensure use of the southern path.
The race is run under Fell Running Association rules. GPS navigation is not allowed. The minimum kit to be carried is map, compass, whistle, full wet weather cover, hat and gloves; emergency rations are advised. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
