The Three Shires Fell Race is scheduled for Saturday 26 September 2026 and is held under category AL. The event is sponsored by OMM and is a counter for the Lakeland Classics Trophy. The venue is Tilberthwaite Farm. Entry is via SI Entries, opening on 1 July, with entries closing on Wednesday 18 September and a limit of 350 entrants. There are no entries on the day. Entry fees are £16 for FRA members and £18 for non-FRA members. The venue is reached by narrow roads.

Course and safety

The course distance is 22 km / 12.4 miles with a total climb of 1535 m / 4003 ft. The route starts and finishes at Tilberthwaite Farm and passes the following checkpoints: Lingmoor (GR 302 046), Pike of Blisco (GR 272 042), Three Shires Stone (GR 276 027), Great Carrs (GR 270 009), Wetherlam (GR 288 011) and a tarn (GR 294 993). There are two flagged sections guiding runners from the farm to the bottom of Lingmoor near Dale End Farm and back from the top of Tilberthwaite Gill, ensuring use of the southern path to Tilberthwaite.

Racing is under FRA rules. Use of GPS for navigation is not permitted. Minimum kit checks will be made and the following items are required: MAP, COMPASS, WHISTLE, FULL WET WEATHER COVER, HAT AND GLOVES. Emergency rations are advised. Take on the Beyond the Lune Skyline Winter Ultra, a 65 km / 40 mile winter trail loop near Kirkby Lonsdale with 2000 m ascent and seven summits. Self navigate boggy footpaths, enjoy two warm feed stations and a hearty finish.

Beyond the Lune Winter Editions on 20 December offers 5, 10 and 20 km trail runs from Royal Barn in Kirkby Lonsdale with riverside sections and Lune Valley views. Longer routes need self navigation and the event is listed as full.

Take on a classic Lake District fell around Latrigg on a flagged 8 km / 5 miles course with 460 m of climb and stunning views. Starts and finishes at Fitz Park Pavilion, Keswick, and pre entry via SiEntries is required.

Take on Orrest Sun Up in Windermere on Sun 21 Dec 2025, a bracing one mile climb to Orrest Head with stunning Lake District views. Entry on the day from The Phoenix Centre is £5 with donations supporting local community charities.
