Three Forts Challenge : 3 May 2026, Lancing Manor Leisure Centre

The Three Forts Challenge takes place on Sunday 3 May 2026 at Lancing Manor Leisure Centre, Lancing, West Sussex. The event offers three races:

  • Full Marathon - 27.2 miles
  • Half Marathon
  • Five Mile Trail Run - 5 miles

Course, rules and charity

Races follow trails across the South Downs National Park. Routes include steep climbs, stiles, rough tracks and undulating paths, with viewpoints at Chanctonbury Ring and Cissbury Ring. The full marathon route is slightly longer than a standard marathon, extended by one mile. Dogs are permitted on the course; each dog receives a prize and handlers must follow Canicross regulations and equipment requirements.

All profits from the event go to Ferring Country Centre and other local charities. Ferring Country Centre provides training and work experience for people with learning disabilities through activities such as a Riding Therapy Unit, Garden Centre, Café and Farm. The event began in 1977, added a half marathon in later years, introduced a 5-mile race in 2023, was cancelled in 2020, and restarted in 2021. Over time the event has raised around £125,000 for local charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
