The Three Castles 50km Race is an ultramarathon scheduled for 30/05/2026. The race starts in Rochester and finishes at the Tonbridge athletics track. The distance is 50 km. Entry includes a fully marked course, live race timing / GPS tracking, medical support, three fully stocked aid stations, bag transfer to the finish, and awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female finishers. Finishers receive a medal if they finish within the official time limit. A shuttle bus from the finish to the start is available to runners only, limited to 100 places and charged at £12.

Course and race rules

The route follows the Medway Valley Walk from Rochester to Tonbridge, mainly on shared towpaths and trails alongside the River Medway. The final segment leads to the Tonbridge athletics track and includes a lap of the track at the finish. Notable locations on the route include Burham, Wouldham, Aylesford Priory, Allington Lock, Maidstone, East Farleigh, Teston Country Park, Wateringbury, Yalding and Hop Farm. Checkpoints are at approximately 13 km, 24 km and 37 km. The race operates a strict 9 hour cut-off and each checkpoint has a published cut-off; runners who miss checkpoint cut-offs are not eligible for an official time or medal. Minimum age is 20. Pacers are not permitted, dogs are not allowed, and crewing is limited to designated spectator locations. Mandatory kit includes a fully charged mobile phone and drinks bottles with capacity to hold about 1 litre (may be reduced). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Race the Trifarm Winter 10k, the final round of a four event trail series at Trifarm near Boreham. Enjoy a mostly off road clockwise route away from the river and a championship deciding atmosphere with just 50 places available.

Join the Phoenix Running Bobble Wobble Run at Crystal Palace Park for a timed multi lap challenge on park trails. Run as many 1.65 mile laps as you can in seven hours and collect a finishers medal and Phoenix bobble hat.

Take part in the Essex Vets XC Championships on 13 December 2025 in Epping Forest for a tough and scenic 8k on forest trails. Veteran races and team prizes across age groups; entries online only until 7 December.

Join the Chelmsford Brew Co 12ks of Christmas for a festive 12k trail from the Voodoo Keller Bar to the brewery and back, finishing in the town bar. Expect drinks, a Santa hat and prizes for the best Christmas fancy dress.
