The Three Castles 50km Race is a 50 km ultramarathon on 30 May 2026, organised by Embrace Ultra. The route runs along the River Medway from Rochester (Esplanade) to the Tonbridge athletics track. The course is mainly on marked towpaths and trails and is described as largely flat, with a final 5 km segment leading to a lap on the 400 m athletics track at the finish. Entry is listed at around £70 and the event offers live race timing/GPS tracking, medical support, bag transfer to the finish, and awards for first to third place in male and female categories.

Course, logistics and rules

The course follows the Medway Valley Walk and passes villages and towns including Burham, Wouldham, Aylesford (Aylesford Priory), Allington Lock, Maidstone, East Farleigh, Teston Country Park, Wateringbury, Yalding and Hop Farm before Tonbridge. There are three fully stocked aid stations and three checkpoints at approx. 13 km, 24 km and 37 km. The race operates a strict 9 hour cut-off and runners must check in at all checkpoints. Runners must be at least 20 years old on race day. Pacers are not permitted, crewing is allowed only at designated spectator locations, dogs are not allowed, and there is a zero tolerance policy for littering. Mandatory items include a fully charged mobile phone and drinks bottles (capacity listed as 1 litre, possibly reduced to 500 ml). A shuttle bus back to the start is offered to runners for a fee.
