Thompson Turkey Trot
The Thompson Turkey Trot is a community running and walking event held at the West Thompson Dam Overlook Shelter in Thompson, CT on November 8, 2026. The event program includes multiple distances and activities for participants of all ages.
Distances:
- 5K trail run, timed
- 3K untimed walk
- 440 yards kids fun run (1/4 mile)
The event is open to all ages; children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are not allowed on the 5K trail run but are welcome on the 3K walk on a leash. Costumes with a Thanksgiving or turkey theme are encouraged.
Entry fees are stated as $25 per person to receive a T shirt if registered on or before October 31, 2026. Day of event registration is higher and accepts cash or check. Virtual participation options are noted.
Awards are given to the overall top male and female in the 5K and to the top three male and female finishers in each age division. Age divisions include 12 and under, 13 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and over. Proceeds support Thompson trails, Parks and Recreation, and a local food pantry.
