Shenipsit Striders Summer Fatass

The event is an 8-hour trail running gathering at the Pavilion at Crandall's Park, 120 Cider Mill Rd, Tolland, CT. The event date is tentative until permits are secured. Registration opens January 1, 2026.

Format and course

Organizers will mark a roughly 5K loop on trails with the start and finish at the Pavilion. Participants may run as many or as few loops as they wish during the 8-hour window. Course files and maps are provided, including a GPX file.

Prizes, food, and giveaways

For each loop completed, runners receive one raffle ticket. Hidden treasures placed along the course can be turned in for additional raffle tickets. Prizes include free race entries and Shenipsit Striders merchandise. The event is a potluck; attendees are encouraged to bring a dish or snacks, and the organizers will provide burgers and hot dogs from the grill. Runners who sign up and complete at least one loop will receive a Shenipsit Strider 50th anniversary gift.

Organizer

The event is hosted by the Shenipsit Striders, a nonprofit trail running club founded in 1975. The club donates to Connecticut trail stewardship and land use programs and maintains membership activities to support those goals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
