Overview

The Shenipsit Striders Summer Fatass is an eight-hour trail running event held in August 2026 in Tolland, Connecticut. The event continues the Shenipsit Striders' 50th anniversary celebration. The event date is tentative until permits are secured. Registration opens January 1, 2026.

Course and format

The event uses a marked 5K-ish loop on trails with the start and finish at the Pavilion at Crandall's Park, 120 Cider Mill Rd, Tolland, CT. Participants may run as many or as few loops as they wish during the eight-hour period. Garmin and GPX course files are provided.

Amenities and activities

For every loop completed, runners receive a raffle ticket for prizes such as free race entries and Shenipsit Striders merchandise. There will also be hidden items on the course that can be turned in for additional tickets. The event is a potluck; attendees are encouraged to bring food and drinks. Organizers will provide hamburgers and hot dogs from the grill. Runners who complete at least one loop will receive a Shenipsit Strider 50th anniversary gift.

The Frozen Heart 900 will take place in Rockfall on Saturday 7 February 2026. You can run 50 miles.

A low key out and back trail race in Union, Connecticut, following the Nipmuck Trail for about 16 miles of technical, hilly terrain with minimal aid stations and a cap of 100 runners. Proceeds support local trail stewardship.

Run a scenic quarter marathon at West Hartford Reservoir on April 11, 2026, as the Hartford Track Club hosts a small, timed field limited to 150 runners. Enjoy chip timing, post race treats and a friendly, looped trail course.

Trail races at Penwood State Park offer a 50K (three loops) and a 17K (one loop) over primarily single-track and double-track terrain, with a nine hour cutoff for the 50K. The event is cupless and organized by the CT Trailmixers.
