Shenipsit Striders Summer Fatass

The Shenipsit Striders Summer Fatass is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026; the date is tentative until permits are secured. The event takes place at the Pavilion at Crandall's Park, 120 Cider Mill Rd, Tolland, CT, and is organized as an eight-hour running gathering.

A marked trail loop of roughly 5K starts and finishes at the Pavilion. Participants may run the loop as many times as they wish during the eight-hour period. For every loop completed, runners receive a raffle ticket; additional raffle tickets can be earned by finding hidden treasures on the course. Prizes listed include free race entries and Shenipsit Striders merchandise.

The event is a potluck. Attendees are encouraged to bring dishes, snacks, or drinks, and the organizers will provide burgers and hot dogs from the grill. Runners who register and complete at least one loop will receive a Shenipsit Strider 50th anniversary gift.

Registration closes Friday, August 14 at 11:59 PM ET. The Shenipsit Striders are a nonprofit trail running club founded in 1975; club activities support Connecticut trail stewardship and land use programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
