Event Overview

The Wirral Summer Trail Series is a multi-race event taking place from April to August. The races are held on the third Tuesday of each month at Wirral Country Park. The specific event date for April is Tuesday, 21st April.

Race Details

All runners aged 16 and over are eligible to participate. The race distance is approximately 8 km. The same course is used for each event in the series.

Series Awards

Trophies are awarded for the series based on performance across the five races. Individual awards are determined by the best position in four out of the five races. In the event of a tie, the award goes to the higher finisher in the fifth race.

Age categories for individual awards are separated by gender:

  • Female: U18, U20, O.40, O45, O.50, O55, O60, O65, O70
  • Male: U18, U20, O.40, O45, O.50, O55, O60, O65, O70

Overall awards are also given to the top three female and male runners in the series. Age is calculated as of the date of the first race.

Registration and Fees

The entry fee is £16 per athlete for a single race or £64 for the entire series of five races. Payment is made online. Registrants for the full series receive a T-shirt if they complete four out of the five races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Trail runs nearby

A winter challenge walk across Rivington, Anglezarke and Turton Moors offering long and shorter routes. Checkpoints, mandatory kit requirements and a ten hour time limit apply.

A 50-mile trail ultramarathon near Chester on 28 February 2026, following the North Cheshire Way and Sandstone Trail with 849 m of ascent, seven checkpoints and a 17 hour cut-off. The 2026 edition was sold out.

Take on the Granny's Bay Challenge, a six hour timed run on flat tarmac along the Ribble estuary in Lytham St Annes, with scenic views across to Southport and North Wales. Complete as many laps as you like and earn a medal after one lap.
