Summit 2 Sea - The Offa's Dyke Half Marathon

This event is a trail half marathon of about 13.8 miles that starts on the summit of Moel y Parc and follows the Offa's Dyke National Trail to the finish on the beach at Prestatyn. The course starts at over 1300 ft above sea level and finishes at sea level, with more than 2450 ft of total ascent.

The event is electronically timed and includes two feed stations along the route. The National Trail is described as well marked. A generous overall cut off of 5 hours is set, with an intermediate cut off of 2 hours 10 minutes at 10.5 km, making the event accessible to runners and to fit, capable hill walkers.

Registration takes place at the Prestatyn Nova Centre. A coach, bookable at extra cost nearer race day, can transport competitors to Bodfari before a warm up walk of around 35 minutes to the summit start. Alternatively, competitors may travel directly to Bodfari if they arrange return transport from the finish.

Mandatory kit may be required on race day and can be relaxed slightly depending on conditions. Expected items include a waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff and gloves, a foil blanket or orange survival bag, a fully charged mobile phone, a whistle, and at least 500 ml of water at the start.
