Rivington Pike Fell Race

A Category B short fell race of approximately 5.2 km with about 213 m / 699 ft of ascent, held in Horwich on Saturday 4 April 2026. The route runs from Lever Park Avenue near the Crown Hotel up to Rivington Pike and returns along the same general course.

Senior registration is at the Crown Hotel, Chorley New Road, BL6 7QJ. Pre entry is available via Madbullevents and entry on the day is permitted. Published entry fees are £10 for pre entry and £12 for entry on the day.

Junior races are organised for U10 (over 6), U12, U14 and U16 age groups, with registration and starts located behind Rivington & Blackrod School, BL6 7RU.

The event holds a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the Fell Runners Association. Teams are allowed with mens teams of four, ladies teams of three and vets teams of three. Course records are listed at 15:53 for the male record (1981) and 19:11 for the female record (2022); a £500 prize is offered to any winner who breaks the mens or ladies course records.
