The Wall Ultramarathon

The Wall is a fully supported, one way ultramarathon covering 70 miles (112 km). The event is a mass participation run and trek that starts in Carlisle and finishes on the Tyne quayside near the Millennium Bridge. The route is fully waymarked with orange arrows and does not require following a GPX file.

The course includes five staffed Pit Stops with real food, drinks, toilets and medical cover. Pit Stops are located at known mile points including Lanercost (15 miles), Walltown Quarry (24 miles), The Sill (30 miles), Hexham (44 miles) and Newburn (63 miles). The organiser provides a sweeper service, on-course medical teams, and two event bag transfers: a small Hexham bag for mid-event access and a larger finish bag sent to the finish.

The event is designed so it may be walked at about 3 mph as well as run. Solo participants form over 60% of the field. Rat Race uses professional event medics and fully audited safety and risk management procedures. Participants must be over 18 on the day of registration. Entry options include a transfer policy and an optional third party Refund Protect product. Registration takes place in Carlisle city centre the day before the event and a finisher medal and optional t-shirt are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
