The Ultra Loop - Manchester

The Ultra Loop at Heaton Park, Manchester

The Ultra Loop is an eight hour looped ultramarathon held in Heaton Park. Participants run as many repeats as they can of an approximately 5.6 kilometre loop. Every finisher receives a recorded finishing time and a medal. The event offers single day entries or a two day option across the same weekend on 20 and 21 March 2027, with the route run in reverse on the second day and combined distances recorded for a weekend leaderboard.

The route mixes park roads and woodland trails and includes roughly 80 metres of elevation. Runners pass features such as the Boating Lake and Heaton Hall and will encounter trails and streams. The course is not closed to the public, so runners should expect other park users including walkers and dog walkers. Organisers advise footwear suitable for both asphalt and light trail sections.

Support is concentrated at a single start and finish area that also acts as the aid station and spectator point. The aid station provides water, fruit, sweet and savoury snacks, energy bars and electrolytes from the event sponsor. Participants are asked to bring their own bottle for refills. A bag drop is available and portaloos are provided. Results list lap count, total distance and elapsed time; laps not completed before the eight hour cutoff are excluded. Entry fees are shown as £36 to £60. Under 12s are not permitted; ages 12 to 15 require a parent or guardian to organise and attend the place.
