The Trail Trot - South Downs trail running event
The Trail Trot is a trail running event set on the grounds of Lancing College in the South Downs, West Sussex. The event features measured, signed routes that run across trails, bridleways and countryside paths in the South East of England.
Distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- Marathon
- 50K
The shorter routes pass hilltop views at Lancing Ring. The Marathon and 50K routes extend further into the Downs and pass landmarks such as Cissbury Ring, Chanctonbury Ring and the market town of Steyning. Terrain includes grassy trails, chalk paths, village footways and panoramic ridgelines.
Included on race day are an accurately measured course with clear signage (UKTC markers, ribbons and arrows), bespoke medals, on-site toilets, water on course, and fully stocked aid stations supplying gels, fruit and other items. The event uses chipped timing and provides a complimentary drink or snack at the finishers marquee where purchased t-shirts can be collected. Food and drink vendors and spectator seating are provided. The course is marshalled and a traffic management company is engaged. Race day photography is available at the event village and along the route. A free baggage drop is located next to Race HQ. A 15% group discount applies to orders of five entries or more.
Mandatory kit for the 50K requires runners to carry at least 500 ml of fluid; hydration vests or handheld soft flasks are permitted. Runners are advised to carry appropriate clothing for changeable weather and to download the GPX file of the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
