The Sunburn Solstice Trail Run
Mount Hope, Canada • 20 Jun 2026
Event Overview
The Sunburn Solstice Trail Run takes place at Marydale Park in Mount Hope, Ontario. The event is designed around the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, featuring a duration of 15 hours, 23 minutes, and 31 seconds. This timing reflects the total amount of sunlight available on that day.
The race is held on a trail loop measuring approximately 3.7 km. The course features a mixture of tree-covered trails and open fields with rolling hills. Because certain sections of the park are prone to becoming wet depending on the weather, the final course layout is determined shortly before the event to ensure participants use the trails in the best condition.
Available distances and formats include:
- Full Solstice (Solo): An individual endurance run for the total duration of 15:23.
- Full Solstice Relay: A team format for up to 5 runners covering the 15:23 duration.
Facilities and Logistics
This event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario. Marydale Park provides on-site parking, washroom facilities, and a large pavilion providing shade for spectators. There is one aid station located on the course which runners pass every few kilometers. This station provides water, electrolyte drinks, and various sweet and salty snacks. This is a cup-less event, so participants are required to bring their own collapsible cup or bottle.
Participants receive a soft-spun t-shirt and a finisher's medal. The event serves as a fundraiser for the C.Y.O. One-to-One camp program, which provides support for children with special needs to attend summer camp. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
