5 Peaks Trail Running - Area 8

The fourth event in the 5 Peaks Trail Running Series in Ontario takes place at Area 8 Conservation Area. The site operated as a limestone quarry from the late 1950s to the mid 1990s and has since been transformed into a natural area set into the escarpment, with trails that run along the outside.

The event offers multiple distances for children and adults. Maps, elevation profiles and aid station locations are provided for each route; routes are subject to change based on trail conditions up to the day of the race.

Distances:

  • Kid's 1 km
  • Kid's 3 km
  • Sport 8.1 km
  • Enduro 16.2 km
  • Grit 24.2 km

Logistics: washroom facilities are available at the start and finish area. Parking is located near the start and finish; park admission is added at registration. All race participants receive park admission at no extra charge on race day; spectators pay the park entrance fee on arrival.

Safety and aid: the event is cup-free. Water and electrolyte drinks are available at the start, the finish and at one or more aid stations on course. Participants planning to be out for longer than an hour should carry a receptacle for fluids and nutrition. The following are not allowed on course: dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers, and nordic walking poles.

Awards and swag: medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each gender within each age and distance category, and to the top three male and female finishers overall. Awards must be picked up at the race. Swag and finisher medals can be purchased during registration; registration fees do not include swag.
