Tally in the Valley Trail Race 2026

Tally in the Valley takes place at Dundas Valley Conservation Area in Hamilton, Ontario in July 2026. The event uses a 7 km loop through Carolinian forest, mainly groomed double-track trails with rolling hills and about 130 m of elevation gain per loop.

The loop will be run counter-clockwise this year. Race headquarters and the main aid station are located at the Trail Centre. The first 2 km are on the rail trail, slightly downhill and exposed to sun. After a short steep descent to the lowest point, about 2.5 km of mostly small rolling hills follows, then 2 to 2.5 km of the loop with the most sustained rolling hills returning to the Trail Centre.

Main event options:

  • 7 km one loop
  • 21 km three loops (4 hour cutoff)
  • 100 miles (23 loops)
  • 6 hour timed race
  • 12 hour day and 12 hour night races
  • 24 hour timed race
  • Gong Show elimination event (hourly cut-offs)

The single aid station at the start/finish offers water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, PB and J sandwiches, pickles and portable toilets; the menu may change during the day. A self-serve water station will be set up about halfway on the loop. Events are cup-less; runners must bring a collapsible cup or bottle. The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario. Partners include La Sportiva and THN Labs, which provides gels in race kits and at aid stations. A fundraising drive supports The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).
