Tally in the Valley Trail Race 2026 : event description

The event takes place at Dundas Valley Conservation Area in Hamilton, ON and is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario. Runners follow a 7 km loop through Carolinian forest, mainly on groomed double track trails with rolling hills and about 130 m of elevation gain per loop.

Available formats include:

  • 7 km one loop
  • 21 km three loops with a 4 hour cutoff
  • Timed events: 6 hour, 12 hour, 24 hour
  • Gong Show elimination event with hourly loop cutoffs
  • 100 mile event over 30 hours

This year the loop is run counter clockwise and race headquarters are at the Trail Centre. The first 2 km are on a rail trail and are slightly downhill. There is one main aid station at the start/finish with water, an electrolyte drink and assorted snacks; a self serve water station is set up around the halfway point. The event is cup free so participants must bring a collapsible cup or bottle.

Pacer policies vary by event: no pacers in the Gong Show or the 6 hour race; limited pacer allowances for the 12 hour and rules for 24 hour and 100 mile pacers beginning at 21 00. Most participants receive a race t shirt and finishers medals; completing 23 loops or 100 miles earns a custom belt buckle. Refunds are offered as a 100% race credit up to 30 days before the race and bib transfers are possible within specified timeframes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
