The STAR Backyard HOLMBURY St MARY is a no-frills, three-hour trail running challenge on Friday 23 January 2026 at Holmbury St Mary Village Hall (WHAT3WORDS: waddled.soccer.refuse). Participants run as many 5 km laps as they can within the three-hour period. Entry is £20 per person and includes a bowl of chilli or curry. There is no chip timing; runners wear a race number and receive a wristband for each completed lap. A headtorch is required because the course is run after dark. Prizes are awarded to the first finishers.
Course and logistics
The route starts and finishes at Holmbury St Mary Village Hall and goes through the surrounding countryside. It leaves Felday Glade in an anti-clockwise direction, heads up to the summit of Holmbury Hill with a long gentle ascent, levels out mid-route, then follows a short steep track to the top. After the summit there is a downhill section of about 2 km, followed by a short ascent back to the village hall to register a lap. The course may be altered for weather conditions.
