Saint Marys, Canada • 2 May 2026

The Event

The Rugged Raccoon Night Race 2026 takes place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Wildwood Conservation Area in St. Marys, Ontario. This event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario. The organizer, Happy Trails Racing, has a partnership with La Sportiva, which will be present with a demo shoe fleet and will give away two pairs of shoes at the event.

Distances

The race offers three distance options:

  • 10 km (night race)
  • 25 km (day or night option)
  • 50 km (day/night combination)

Course and Conditions

The trail course circles Wildwood Lake and features a mix of terrain including likely mud, rocks, and roots. It is described as having long, flat winding sections, some climbs, and lake views. The event includes both day and night running. For night races, a headlamp or flashlight with a minimum of 100 lumens is required. Wildlife sightings such as frogs, snakes, raccoons, deer, and owls are possible.

Aid Stations and Inclusions

Four fully stocked aid stations are located along the course, providing water, electrolyte drinks, and snacks. The event is cup-less, so participants need their own collapsible cup or bottle. Registration includes a shirt, a small race bib, other goodies, chip timing, and a finisher's medal. Shirt options include unisex or women's cut.
