Persistence Backyard Ultra

Persistence Backyard Ultra takes place on August 1, 2026 at Eco Park, 15889 Medway Road in Arva, Ontario. The event is capped at 67 participants and there is no waitlist.

The course is an approximate 3.36 kilometre circuit that must be completed twice consecutively within each hour to form the required 6.7056 kilometre loop. Surface types include crushed stone trail, grass, and a dirt road. The venue is private and the course will not be accessible before race day.

Runners must supply their own food and drinks; there is no potable water on site though the race will offer some hydration options. Limited electricity is available and a barbecue will be provided for food preparation. Alcohol is not permitted on site.

Each participant receives a commemorative hoodie. The event is an affiliated Silver Ticket event meaning the winner receives automatic entry to the World Team Championship. Additional prizes for the winner include a Laz Jacket, a silver coin, a free entry to the next Persistence Backyard, and a CAD 250 travel assistance payment once travel proof is provided.

Crew is limited to two people per runner at the start; crew members may be switched during daylight hours. Spectators are not allowed. Medical personnel will be on site and have authority to withdraw runners for safety reasons. There will be no official timing; completion of the loop within the hour is the requirement. A portion of registration fees is donated to the Children's Health Foundation. Refunds are handled as race credit with full credit available for withdrawals by June 17, 2026 and 50 percent credit after that date. Trail runs nearby

Runners start together in London, Ontario and pick their own routes to get as far as possible from the start within set time limits. The race includes 8 hour, 4 hour and 2 hour categories and uses live tracking for verification.

A 5 km run at Boler Mountain on July 25 2026 featuring over 25 obstacles, large foam zones using 2.5 million cubic feet of foam, plus a kids area, DJ, food vendors and a licensed beer garden.

Trail event in Exeter on August 30, 2026, featuring wooded routes, a river valley and multiple bridge crossings. Proceeds support Friends of the Trail for future maintenance.

Trail races of 8 km, 16 km and 24 km run on an 8 km loop at Springwater Conservation Area in Aylmer on September 26, 2026. The night 8 km requires a headlamp and park admission is included with registration.
