The Farthest

London, Canada • 20 Jun 2026

The Event

The Farthest is an unconventional running event presented by the Persistence Racing Run Club in London, Ontario, Canada. The goal is not to run to a finish line, but to get as far away as possible from a common starting point. Each runner chooses their own route. The winner is the runner who gets the farthest from the start point "as the crow flies" within the allotted time.

The Formats

Three time-based events are offered:

  • The Farthest: 8-hour duration.
  • Half-Farthest: 4-hour duration.
  • Quarter-Farthest: 2-hour duration.

How It Works & Rules

The event takes place on June 20th, starting at 7:00 a.m. The exact starting location within London will be revealed two weeks prior. Mandatory live tracking via Google Maps is required, and runners must text their location to the race director every 2 hours.

Safety is the first rule. Runners must obey all traffic signals, avoid major highways, and use sidewalks where available. Support crews and pacers are allowed, but any motorized travel during the run is prohibited. Each runner must arrange for an emergency and end-of-run pick-up person.

Registration & Details

Entry is through a free application process. The event is capped at 30 total runners. A portion of the proceeds is donated to the Children's Health Foundation. Participants receive a souvenir drinking glass and a poker chip. The overall winner of each sub-event receives a custom award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
