The Farthest
The Farthest
The Farthest is an event presented by Persistence Racing Run Club in London, Ontario, Canada. All runners begin at the same starting location, which will be disclosed two weeks before the event, and aim to get as far away from that point as possible measured "as the crow flies." Each runner chooses their own route; the event is not virtual.
The event includes three categories:
- The Farthest (8 hours)
- Half-Farthest (4 hours)
- Quarter-Farthest (2 hours)
Safety rules require the use of sidewalks where available, obeying traffic signals, and avoiding major highways. Runners must wear a race bib, enable live tracking via Google Maps, and text their current location every two hours. Competitors must travel under their own power; being transported while the vehicle moves results in disqualification. Each runner must provide an emergency and end-of-run pickup contact; organizers provide no transportation.
Entry begins with a free application; organizers may invite participants and some runners gain automatic acceptance based on prior event performance. The field is capped at 30 runners and the minimum age is 18. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Children's Health Foundation. Participants receive a souvenir drinking glass and a poker chip; a judged gift given on race morning may earn a free entry to a future Persistence Racing event.
