The Rock the Loch 5K/10K/Half Marathon (LIVE or Virtual)

The Rock the Loch event runs June 26 to 29, 2026 at Lake Chabot Regional Park in Castro Valley, California. It offers both live and virtual participation across three distances: 5K, 10K, and half marathon.

Distances

  • 5K is 100% paved.
  • 10K is 50% paved and 50% trail with one significant climb.
  • Half marathon includes about 3 miles paved; remaining distance is trail.

Course notes include nearly 1,700 feet of total ascent and descent on the half marathon. The 10K has one aid station roughly three miles in. The half marathon has aid stations located at about 4.1 miles, 7.65 miles, and 9.85 miles. Aid station supplies list water, an electrolyte drink from Skratch Labs, GU Energy products, Saltstick products, chips, and pretzels.

Participant items and services for those attending the live event include a race shirt, a handcrafted race woodallion by Aravaipa Artworx, a Rock the Loch beer sampler stein, post-race snacks and beverages including Bellwether Farms yogurt and Jambars, access to a post race brewfest, and music from DJ Cryptid. Pre-race bib and shirt pickup is available the day before at a designated location in Oakland and on race morning at the start area.
