The Rock the Loch 5K/10K/Half Marathon takes place Friday June 26 to Monday June 29, 2026, in Castro Valley, California, at Lake Chabot Regional Park (17930 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley, CA 94546). Each distance is offered as both a live and a virtual event. Distances included:

Course and aid stations

Course surfaces and profile vary by distance. The 5K is entirely paved. The 10K is roughly 50% paved and 50% trail and includes one steep climb. The half marathon has about 3 miles of paved surface with the remainder on trail and includes nearly 1,700 feet of total ascent and descent; organizers note this course is intended for experienced trail runners. The 10K has one aid station at roughly 3 miles. The half marathon has aid stations at 4.1, 7.65, and 9.85 miles. Aid stations provide water, Skratch Labs electrolyte drink, GU Energy products, Saltstick products, chips, and pretzels.

Logistics and extras

Pre-race bib and shirt pickup is scheduled for Saturday June 27, 12:00 to 4:00 PM at Renew PT (460 Boulevard Way, Suite 2D, Oakland). Race-morning pickup will be available at the start/finish area. A friend may pick up an entrant’s bib and shirt if they present proof of registration and a copy of the entrant’s ID. Participants receive a race shirt, a handcrafted woodallion, and a beer sampler stein; post-race snacks and beverages are provided, and a post-race BREWFEST and DJ are part of the onsite experience.

Cancellation and refund policy

The race does not support refunds, transfers, or credits. If the event is canceled for wildfires, hazardous air quality, hazardous weather, natural disasters, pandemics, or other acts of God, organizers will ship race swag to participants and provide guidance for self-navigation of the course and result submission.
