Woodmonster Trail Race 2026

The Woodmonster Trail Race is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Oakland, California. The event starts and finishes at the Chabot Space & Sciences Center and uses trails in Redwood Regional Park. The main race distance is 10 miles and the course includes significant hills and single track sections, including the named Woodmonster climb.

The race is run with a reverse handicap start system that staggers start times by age group. A team competition recognizes the team with the most finishers and awards four complimentary entries for the following year. Run for a Better Oakland has been the major beneficiary in recent years.

Entry fees vary by registration period and membership status. Early bird pricing is offered through April 30, with separate member and non member rates; regular pricing continues through June 19; a reduced fee applies to high school and college students. Entry includes a short sleeve technical fabric finishers shirt. The field is limited to 250 runners.

Course support includes aid stations and water at designated points such as the stream at Tres Sendas and the Redwood Bowl at about mile 4.6. A separate Woodmonster Hill Climb Challenge awards the fastest men’s and women’s times up the approximately 0.8 mile climb. An early start option is available for participants who expect to need more than 3 hours 15 minutes to complete the course, subject to organizer permission.
