About the race
The Oakland Hills Trail Run takes place at Redwood Regional Park in Oakland, CA on October 24, 2026. The event offers three marked trail distances and a total field capacity of 330 runners.
- 35K : 22.8 miles, 4,550' elevation gain
- Half Marathon : 13.3 miles, 2,900' elevation gain
- 10K : 6.2 miles, 1,250' elevation gain
Most of the routes run on technical dirt trails and non-technical fire roads; sections of trail can be steep. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon roughly every 200 meters, with heavier markings at turns; blue ribbons indicate wrong-way trails. Detailed maps, turn-by-turn directions, elevation profiles, and aid station cutoffs are provided for each course.
Aid stations provide a variety of gels, chews, snacks, salty foods, beverages including Skratch Labs hydration mixes, and basic first aid supplies. The event is cupless; runners must carry their own water bottle or reusable cup. Reusable cups and 500 ml soft flasks are available for purchase at the event. Runners are encouraged to carry at least one 20 oz bottle during their race.
All races use professional chip timing with disposable chips attached to bibs. Awards use gun time for overall placements and chip time for age-group results; top three overall in each race receive trophies and all finishers receive a custom medal. Dogs on leash are permitted in the park; runners choosing to run with dogs must start from the back of the pack. Volunteers receive a race T-shirt, food, and credit toward future events. To be guaranteed a shirt and size, registration must be completed by October 10, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
