2026 Hark the Herald Half Marathon & 10K
The 38th annual Hark the Herald event takes place on December 12, 2026 at Angel Island State Park in Belvedere Tiburon, California. The course is a hilly loop trail that circumnavigates Angel Island and offers panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay and Marin County. The 10K is a single loop of roughly 6.5 miles; the Half Marathon completes the loop twice. The event is limited to 400 participants.
Distances
- Half Marathon: two loops of the island course.
- 10K: single loop, approximately 6.5 miles.
- Half Marathon - Youth: youth division with reduced fee.
- 10K - Youth: youth division with reduced fee.
Logistics and race rules include a 3.5 hour course cut off; half marathoners must complete the first loop within 1 hour 30 minutes. Hikers and walkers are welcome for the 10K. The course will be marked with orange ribbon where turns or trail crossings are needed. There are no aid stations on course; aid will be available before the second half marathon loop. Participants are advised to carry water. Food and drink will be available at the finish.
Registration fees include the ferry fee and processing. Bibs are mailed beginning two weeks before the event; unreceived bibs may be picked up on race morning. All half marathon finishers receive medals; all participants receive T shirts. Personalized award ribbons for the top three male and female finishers in each age group are mailed after the race.
Athletes must take the special chartered ferry from the Tiburon ferry dock to reach Angel Island for the event. Return ferries depart Angel Island hourly at 20 minutes past the hour except 12:20 PM. Spectator ferry fees are listed for adults, children, small children and toddlers and there is a per bike fee. Parking in Tiburon lots is available for a daily fee; prices vary by proximity to the ferry dock.
Registrations are non refundable and non transferable. Refund protection is available at purchase. Without purchased protection, a rollover credit may be requested before November 12, 2026 for the amount paid minus a twenty dollar fee; after that date a doctor s note is required for a credit.
