The Rebellion Run

The Rebellion Run is a guided trail run along the Kett’s Country Long Distance Trail, held to mark the anniversary of Kett’s Rebellion. The route covers 18 miles, starting in Wymondham where the rebellion began on 8 July 1549 and finishing just past Cringleford’s historic twin-arched bridge.

The route passes sites of historical interest and areas of natural habitat where wildlife can be seen. A fully qualified Run Leader guides the group and provides information about points of interest, history and wildlife. The event includes a fully stocked aid station approximately every six miles, and £1 from each entry fee is donated to the Norfolk Trails Team for trail upkeep.

This is not a race; runners are placed into groups and the pace is conversational. The organiser classifies the event as intermediate; terrain includes sections of road, tracks and hard-packed trails with obstacles and some inclines. The organiser allows up to five hours for the route. The course is linear: there are Pay & Display car parks in Wymondham and options to return to the start by train, bus or cycle path, but travel from the finish back to a parked car is not included.

Recommended kit includes trail shoes, a waterproof jacket, sun cream as required, at least 500 ml of water and sufficient snacks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
