The Ranch 50K
The event takes place in the Daley Ranch area in Escondido, California, with the Start/Finish at the Dixon Lake Picnic Area. The course uses loops on trail terrain around the ranch and park property.
Distances:
- 50K: 31.1 miles (two 15.6 mile loops), 6,318 ft gain (1,926 m)
- Half marathon: 13.1 miles, 2,706 ft gain (825 m)
The 50K visits three full stocked aid stations twice: La Honda Aid Station at 5.4 and 21 miles, Lilac Hill Aid Station at 10 and 25.7 miles, and the Dixon Lake aid station at 15.5 and 31.1 miles. The half marathon uses the same three aid stations at 4.75, 9.5, and 13.1 miles. There are two cut-off times for the 50K: 4.75 hours for the first loop and 9.5 hours for the second loop. The half marathon has a 9 hour cut-off.
The City of Escondido holds the permit and may revoke it; if that occurs the organizer will offer options such as deferred entry, transfer to another race, or a refund when funds permit. All entrants receive a shirt upon signup; additional shirts are available. Finishers receive a medal and additional finisher items, and the top three men and top three women in each event receive trophies. The event has a partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project and accepts donations for that organization.
