The Racing Gnome Snowshoe Race takes place on February 8, 2026 in Truckee, California at the Prosser OHV Parking Area (near Highway 89). The event offers two distances:

  • 5K
  • 10K

Registration closes on February 7, 2026. The registration fee is $25. DPMR members receive a $5 discount with a member code and additional event swag.

Logistics and organizer

A limited number of snowshoes are available for use through a donation and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis; availability is not guaranteed. Several local Truckee-Tahoe shops also rent snowshoes. Parking is somewhat limited in the lot and on the other side of Highway 89; organizers note carpooling from town. Course previews for the 5K and 10K are available.

The event is organized by Donner Party Mountain Runners, a grassroots 501(c)(3) non-profit running club based in Truckee, California. The club states its mission is to inform, inspire, and connect mountain runners in the Truckee-Tahoe region and describes membership as open to all who wish to run with the group.
