The Purbeck Marathon
The Purbeck Marathon is a trail running event in Swanage, Purbeck, set for 20th September 2026. The route passes along the Jurassic Coast and through the Purbeck Hills, offering views of cliffs, beaches, the abandoned village of Tyneham and the ruins of Corfe Castle. The event takes place within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and highlights local community involvement and charity support.
Two distances are offered:
- The Purbeck Marathon
- The Purbeck 16
Both distances are licensed by the Trail Running Association and will follow UK Athletics rules. The race has a cutoff of 7 hours 11 minutes and a minimum age of 18. GPX files are available for download, with final route files to be issued in due course.
Mandatory kit includes a running vest or belt, capacity to carry 500 ml of water, a GPS device with the route uploaded, a fully charged mobile phone, a foil blanket and a whistle. Recommended items include trail running shoes, technical running clothing and sufficient fuel such as gels or chews.
Entry pricing and fees are published per distance. Early bird booking ends on 31st March 2026 and general registration closes on 13th September 2026. Bib collection is available in Swanage on the afternoon of 19th September at the Planet Purbeck Festival and at the start area on race day.
