The Purbeck Marathon takes place in Swanage, Dorset, and follows a scenic route across the Purbeck Hills and the Jurassic Coast. A GPS device with the route uploaded is also mandatory for navigation. Trail running shoes and technical clothing are recommended for the uneven terrain.

The event includes a bag drop area and bib collection services in Swanage. A time limit of 7 hours and 11 minutes is in place for the marathon distance.
