The Peddars Way Ultra Marathon

Knettishall, United Kingdom • 1 Feb 2026

Event overview

The Peddars Way Ultra is a 48 mile point-to-point ultramarathon on the Peddars Way in Suffolk and Norfolk. The event on 1 February 2026 is organised by Challenge Running Ltd. The route starts at Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve and finishes at Holme-next-the-Sea Village Hall. The event provides first aid cover, GPS tracking for participants, and a bespoke wooden medal; optional event merchandise is available for purchase.

Route and checkpoints

The course follows footpaths, bridleways, rural lanes and a few small off-road sections and is mostly good underfoot. A boardwalk section in the early miles can be slippery or underwater in wet conditions. Two route options exist: a standard line and a wet diversion that adds about 2 miles; if the diversion is used all checkpoint cutoffs are moved 30 minutes later. There are three on-course checkpoints and a finish checkpoint:

  • CP1 at ~14 miles: basic cold drinks and snacks.
  • CP2 at ~27 miles (Castle Acre Village Hall): cold foods, hot drinks and toilets.
  • CP3 at ~34 miles: roadside/layby, basic supplies. The finish at ~48 miles offers hot food, hot drinks, changing and toilets. Runners must complete the course within 12 hours; an average pace of about 4 mph (15 minute mile) is required to meet cutoffs.

Logistics, kit and entry

A shuttle bus option runs between the finish car park and the start; spaces must be booked and paid in advance. The event is cupless so runners must carry a reusable cup. A mandatory kit list includes waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, spare warm layer, headtorch (minimum 100 lumens), hat or buff, gloves, map or saved route, minimum 1 litre water carrying capacity and suitable shoes. Entry is via Eventrac, open to entrants aged 18 or over; early places are priced lower, then rise to the standard fee. Transfers, insurance and refund conditions are set by the organiser.
