The Peak is a trail running event near Julian, California, with courses that climb Cuyamaca Peak, San Diego County’s second highest. The routes run mostly on single track trail and include sustained climbing sections and long descents with mountain views.

The 50K and marathon routes begin with a 2,200 foot climb over the first 6.5 miles, then descend about 2,800 feet to the Green Valley aid station and the marathon turnaround. 50K runners complete a short loop back to Green Valley, then rejoin the marathon route for a return trip that ascends again to Cuyamaca Peak. The full 50K course records roughly 10,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain and loss.

The half marathon follows the marathon line for much of its route, climbing the Conejos Trail up to the peak and then descending toward a faster finish. Aid is available at Green Valley aid station on the marathon course. Terrain is primarily single track with steep climbs and descents and sections that offer mountain views.
