Event overview

The San Diego 200 is a 200-mile endurance run held October 23–26 in Escondido, California. The route circumnavigates San Diego County and was revived after a hiatus by the last two finishers of the original event. Registration opens January 19, 2026.

Course and logistics

The course includes coastal sections, urban corridors, rugged inland trails, mountains, and desert landscapes. Participants have 82 hours to complete the full distance. The event emphasizes self-reliance and preparation; runners are responsible for their own crew, logistics, and decision-making throughout the multi-day effort. It is intended for experienced ultrarunners who can move efficiently over long distances, manage fatigue and sleep deprivation, and adapt to changing conditions.
