San Diego 200 : October 23–26, Escondido, California
The San Diego 200 is a 200-mile endurance run that circumnavigates San Diego County and takes place over multiple days. The route includes coastal sections, urban corridors, rugged inland trails, mountains, and desert landscapes. Runners have an 82-hour cutoff to complete the full distance.
This edition revives the original San Diego 200 after a hiatus. The revival was led by the last two finishers of the original event, who experienced the full course and now organize this edition with an aim to preserve the original spirit while shaping the event’s next chapter.
The race emphasizes self-reliance and careful planning. All participants are required to have a crew; crews may meet runners anywhere it can be done safely. The first 100 miles pass through populated areas with available stores and gas stations for self-support, while the second 100 miles becomes progressively more rugged with limited water and supply options, making crew support more critical.
Entry is limited to 24 experienced ultrarunners. Previous completion of a 200-mile race is highly recommended, though runners with other significant accomplishments may be considered. Applicants are placed on a wait list and admitted if they meet the requirements; slots are allocated in registration order. Early-bird entry is listed at $750 plus fees and taxes. Event proceeds are donated to a Native American charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
