San Diego 200
The San Diego 200 is a 200 mile endurance run that circumnavigates San Diego County. The route passes coastal sections, urban corridors, rugged inland trails, mountains, and desert landscapes. The race is a multi day challenge designed for experienced ultrarunners.
This edition is presented as the rebirth of the original event. The organizers include the last two finishers of the original race who revived the event after a hiatus and who have direct experience of the route and its demands.
Runners are given 82 hours to complete the full distance. The event emphasizes self reliance and planning. All runners are required to have a crew. Crews may meet runners anywhere it is safe to do so. The first 100 miles travel through populated areas where runners may access gas stations and stores. The second 100 miles becomes progressively more rugged with limited options for water and supplies, increasing the importance of crew support and careful logistics.
Entry for the reborn year is limited to 24 runners. Previous completion of a 200 mile race is highly recommended though other exceptional accomplishments will be considered. The entry fee is $750 plus fees and taxes and stated profits will be donated to a Native American charity. The event is based in Escondido, California.
