The Next Loop - Cliff Cave

The Next Loop - Cliff Cave

The Next Loop - Cliff Cave takes place at Cliff Cave Park, on the River Bluff Trail overlooking the Mississippi River. The course is a clearly marked 3.1-mile (5K) loop that returns each lap to the same central start/finish area with a fully stocked aid station.

The trail surface is primarily packed dirt with sections of crushed limestone and natural singletrack. Runners encounter roots, short climbs, a few technical sections, rolling hills, and bluff-side overlooks. The route has more elevation than flatter park courses while still allowing runners to complete repeated laps.

The event uses a loop format: athletes start together, complete one 5K loop at a time, and decide whether to continue. Every completed loop is counted and honored, with no forced cutoffs listed.

Location: Cliff Cave Park, 806 Cliff Cave Rd, St Louis, MO 63129.

Distances offered:

  • 5K
  • 10K
  • 15K
  • 1/2 Marathon (13.1M)
  • 18K
  • Marathon (26.2)
  • 50K

The series is described in three participant categories: new runners building distance, experienced runners using multiple laps for training, and those pursuing longer efforts by stacking loops. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
