The Maverick South Downs Trail 2026
The event takes place on Saturday 3 October 2026 at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, with five trail race distances leaving from the park and running into the South Downs. Routes cross the Hampshire and Sussex border and use chalk ridgeways, woodlands and farm trails. The Marathon and Ultra routes include a 15 km section on the South Downs Way. Courses include short sharp climbs and rolling chalky terrain.
The available distances are:
- 50k Ultra: 51 km, +1294 m, £89
- Marathon: 42 km, +1118 m, £79
- Half Marathon: 21 km, +479 m, £49
- Middle: 9 km, +205 m, £39
- Short: 5 km, +144 m, £25
Outpost and toilet arrangements vary by route. The Short route has no outpost. The Half Marathon has two outposts. The Marathon has three outposts with toilets at the first and second outposts. The Ultra has four outposts with toilets at the first and third outposts. Outposts offer sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks as top ups.
Mandatory items for the 50k Ultra and Marathon include waterproof jacket, mobile phone, 800 calories of food, minimum 1 litre of water, self adhesive bandage, whistle, foil blanket, hat or buff and a reusable cup. The event provides free parking, a fully marked and timed course, online results, bag drop, event photography, food and drink options, a metal finishers medal and is dog friendly.
