The Maverick South Downs Trail 2026 is a trail running event at Queen Elizabeth Country Park on the Hampshire and Sussex border, held on Saturday 3 October 2026. Routes run directly onto the South Downs Way and across chalky ridges, woodland and farm trails, including sections through Harting Downs and West Dean Woods.

Five distances are offered:

  • 50k Ultra: 51 km
  • Marathon: 42 km
  • Half Marathon: 21 km
  • Middle: 9 km
  • Short: 5 km

The Ultra and Marathon routes include multiple precision fuel and hydration outposts and toilets at some outposts. The Half Marathon has two outposts. The Middle and Short routes have no outposts; there is no toilet provision on the Short, Middle or Half Marathon courses. Cut-off points and times apply to the 50k Ultra and Marathon routes to allow completion in 8 hours 30; runners who do not reach cut-offs may be collected.

Event facilities include a fully marked course, timing and online results, event photography, bag drop, food and drink and a metal finisher medal. Parking at the event car park is free; the car park is a short walk from the start/finish area. Organizers advise that the 50k Ultra and Marathon require mandatory kit such as waterproof jacket, mobile phone, minimum 1 litre water, 800 calories, foil blanket and a whistle.
