The Maverick Peak District X-Trail 2027
The event takes place on Saturday 5 June 2027 at Bakewell Showground in Bakewell, Derbyshire, and offers five trail route options that all start at the showground and head into the Peak District National Park. Routes move through a mix of high moorland, steep climbs, fast-descending river valleys, exposed gritstone edges, sheltered woodland, old railway lines, and sections of the Pennine footpath. Named locations on the routes include Bamford, Hathersage, Curbar, Froggatt, and Stanage.
Distances and elevation gains:
- 55 km Ultra: 1214 m elevation gain
- 41 km Marathon: 992 m elevation gain
- 28 km Half Marathon: 600 m elevation gain
- 10 km Middle: 271 m elevation gain
- 6 km Short: 111 m elevation gain
Outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels, and electrolyte drink, and are intended as top ups to what runners carry. There are no outposts on the Middle and Short routes. The 55 km route has a 10 hour completion limit and runners who miss cut offs will be returned to the finish. The organiser aims for cup free outposts, so participants should bring a refillable cup or bottle.
Race packs are not posted and must be collected from the registration tent on the morning of the event. Free parking, a fully marked and timed course, online results, event photography, a bag drop area, and a metal finisher medal are provided. Mandatory kit for the 50 km Ultra and Marathon routes includes a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers or leggings, an extra long sleeve base layer, a mobile phone, 800 calories of food, at least 1 litre of water, a self adhesive elastic bandage, a foil blanket, hat or buff, gloves, a headtorch with spare batteries, a reusable cup, and a GPX copy of the route.
