The Maverick Peak District X-Trail 2027
The Maverick Peak District X-Trail is a trail running event held at Bakewell Showground in Bakewell, Derbyshire on Saturday 5 June 2027. The event offers five route options that run into the Peak District National Park and visit locations such as Bamford, Hathersage, Curbar, Froggatt, and Stanage.
Routes leave the showground and immediately move onto varied terrain. Runners encounter high moorland, exposed gritstone edges with wide views, steep climbs, fast-descending river valleys, sheltered woodland trails, old railway lines, and sections of the Pennine footpath. Stone steps and remote-feeling paths are part of the route experience.
Available distances:
- 50k Ultra: 55 km, +1214 m
- Marathon: 41 km, +992 m
- Half Marathon: 28 km, +600 m
- Middle: 10 km, +271 m
- Short: 6 km, +111 m
Course logistics include fully marked routes, fuel and hydration outposts, timing and online results, event photography, bag drop, a metal finisher medal, and free parking at the venue. Outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels, and electrolyte drink and aim to be cup free; runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle. GPX files are available for each route and race packs are collected from the registration tent on the morning of the event.
For the 55 km route there is a 10 hour completion limit and cut-offs at outposts are enforced. Mandatory kit applies for the Ultra and Marathon routes and includes waterproofs, a mobile phone, at least 1 litre of water, 800 calories of food, a foil blanket, and a headtorch with spare batteries.
