The Maverick Peak District Trail 2026 is a one-day trail running event organised by Maverick Race on Saturday 30 May 2026. The venue is Bakewell Showground in Bakewell, Derbyshire (postal code DE45 1AH). Routes leave the showground and run into the Peak District National Park, crossing moorland, river valleys, old railway lines and sections of the Pennine footpath. The course passes through or near Bamford, Hathersage, Curbar, Froggatt and Stanage.

Routes and practical details

  • Half Marathon: 28 km (+600 m elevation)
  • Middle: 10 km (+271 m elevation)
  • Short: 6 km (+111 m elevation)

There are outposts on the longer routes that provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink; the Short route has no outpost. Runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle as the event aims to be cup free. All entrants should carry at least 1 litre of water and a mobile phone. Headphones are strongly discouraged. Race packs are available for collection from the showground the day before or from registration on the morning of the event. Free parking is provided at the venue. Montane Winter Spine is a non stop 268 mile winter ultra along the Pennine Way from Edale to Kirk Yetholm with a 168 hour cutoff. Limited to 150 runners, it demands serious fitness and winter mountain experience.

The Trigger Fell Race is a tough 33 km fell run across Black Hill, Bleaklow and Kinder from Marsden to Edale in the Peak District, climbing 1650 m. Entries are limited and profits go to Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team.
