The Maverick Peak District Trail 2026

The event takes place at Bakewell Showground in Bakewell, Derbyshire on Saturday 30 May 2026. It offers three waymarked trail routes that start from the showground and run into the Peak District National Park.

Routes lead over high moor, down through river valleys, across old railway lines and along sections of the Pennine footpath. The course includes rocky climbs and descents, open moorland, forest tracks and stone steps, and passes through Bamford, Hathersage, Curbar, Froggatt and Stanage.

Distances and elevation:

  • Half Marathon - 28 km, +600 m
  • Middle - 10 km, +271 m
  • Short - 6 km, +111 m

Race packs for Half Marathon, Middle and Short routes must be collected at Bakewell Showground either on the evening before the event or from the registration tent on the morning of the race. Outposts on the Half Marathon and Middle routes supply sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink; there is no outpost on the Short route. The event operates a plastic free policy at outposts and asks participants to run with a reusable cup or bottle.

Organiser information lists free parking at the venue, a fully marked and timed course, online results, event photography, a bag drop area and a metal finishers medal. Runners are advised to carry at least one litre of water and a mobile phone. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
