Maverick Peak District X-Trail - Bakewell Showground
The Maverick Peak District X-Trail is a multi-distance trail running event held at Bakewell Showground, Bakewell, Derbyshire on Saturday 5 June 2027. Routes leave the showground and run into the Peak District National Park across varied terrain including high moorland, steep climbs, fast-descending river valleys, gritstone edges, sheltered woodland, old railway lines and sections of the Pennine footpath. The route network passes through locations such as Bamford, Hathersage, Curbar, Froggatt and Stanage.
Distances and elevation gains:
- 50k Ultra - 55 km, +1214 m
- Marathon - 41 km, +992 m
- Half Marathon - 28 km, +600 m
- Middle - 10 km, +271 m
- Short - 6 km, +111 m
Facilities listed for the event include free parking, fully marked and fully timed courses, online results, event photography, bag drop, food and drink availability, precision fuel and hydration outposts, a metal finisher medal and GPS tracking for the 50k route. GPX files are available for each route and race packs are collected from the registration tent on the morning of the event.
The 55 km route has a 10-hour overall cut-off; arriving at an outpost after its cut-off will result in removal to the finish. Organisers aim to keep outposts cup-free, so participants should bring a cup or bottle. Due to likely hot weather, no dogs will be allowed to take part.
Organisers strongly recommend all runners carry at least 1 litre of water, a waterproof jacket, a foil blanket and a mobile phone. The 50k and marathon routes require additional mandatory kit and food provisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
