The Maverick Peak District X-Trail 2026

The Maverick Peak District X-Trail takes place on Saturday 30 May 2026 at Bakewell Showground in Derbyshire. The event offers long-distance trail routes through the Peak District National Park with varied terrain including high moor, river valleys, rocky climbs and descents, old railway lines, and sections of the Pennine footpath. The course passes through Bamford, Hathersage, Curbar, Froggatt and Stanage and aims to provide extensive exposure to the park landscape.

Distances available

  • 101 km with +2750 m elevation gain
  • 55 km with +1214 m elevation gain

Both ultra routes are fully marked and supported by outposts that provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. The 101 km route includes drop bag provision so runners can leave extra kit to be returned to the finish area. Race packs are not posted and can be collected at Bakewell Showground either on the evening before the event or at registration on the day.

Cut-off limits are specified by route; the 101 km route allows 18 hours to complete and the 55 km route allows 10 hours to complete. Mandatory kit for the 100 km and 50 km routes includes a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers or leggings, an extra long-sleeve layer, mobile phone, 800 calories of food, a minimum of 1 litre of water, a self-adhesive bandage, foil blanket, hat or buff, gloves, a headtorch with spare batteries and a reusable cup. Participants are asked to use a reusable cup at outposts and the organiser strongly recommends not wearing headphones. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
