The Maverick Peak District X-Trail 2027

The Maverick Peak District X-Trail takes place on 5 June 2027 at Bakewell Showground in Derbyshire and offers five measured trail routes that start at the showground and head into the Peak District National Park.

Available routes:

  • 55 km Ultra, elevation +1214 m
  • 41 km Marathon, elevation +992 m
  • 28 km Half Marathon, elevation +600 m
  • 10 km Middle, elevation +271 m
  • 6 km Short, elevation +111 m

Routes travel across a varied landscape that includes high moorland, exposed gritstone edges, steep climbs, fast-descending river valleys, sheltered woodland trails, old railway lines and sections of the Pennine footpath. The course passes through locations such as Bamford, Hathersage, Curbar, Froggatt and Stanage.

Outposts on route provide a range of sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. The event aims to be cup-free at outposts, so runners should bring a refillable cup or bottle. The 55 km route has a 10 hour completion limit and outpost cut-off rules are enforced.

Race packs are collected at the registration tent on the morning of the event. Free parking, fully marked course, on-course marshals, timing and online results are provided. Mandatory items are required for the 55 km and marathon routes and recommended kit for all runners includes at least 1 litre of water, a raincoat, a foil blanket and a mobile phone.
