The Maverick Peak District X-Trail 2026 is an off-road running event held at Bakewell Showground in Bakewell, Derbyshire. The event is organised by Maverick Race and offers long-distance ultra routes that run through the Peak District National Park. The course uses mixed terrain including moorland, river valleys, sections of the Pennine footpath, old railway lines and village approaches through places such as Bamford, Hathersage, Curbar, Froggatt and Stanage. Free parking, a fully marked and timed course, event photography, bag drop and a metal finisher medal are provided.
Routes and logistics
- 101 km - Elevation +2849 m
- 55 km - Elevation +1214 m
Both routes have set cut-off durations - 101 km runners have 18 hours to complete the course and 55 km runners have 10 hours. Outposts supply snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. Drop bags are included for the 101 km and are transported to the outpost at 57 km and then returned to the finish area. GPS trackers and kit spot checks will take place at Bakewell Showground prior to the race. Race packs for the 101 km may be posted if entered before 11 May 2025; 55 km packs must be collected from Bakewell Showground before the event. Runners are asked to carry a reusable cup or bottle, and mandatory kit is specified for the ultra routes (water, GPS/GPX route, waterproofs, headtorch and spare batteries, a minimum of 800 calories and basic safety items).
