The Maverick Peak District X-Trail 2027

The event is held at Bakewell Showground in Bakewell, Derbyshire, within the Peak District National Park. Five route options run from shorter looped courses to longer point-to-point routes that travel deep into the park.

Routes include:

  • 50k Ultra: 55 km, +1214 m
  • Marathon: 41 km, +992 m
  • Half Marathon: 28 km, +600 m
  • Middle: 10 km, +271 m
  • Short: 6 km, +111 m

All routes start at the showground and move quickly into varied terrain: high moorland, steep climbs, fast-descending river valleys, exposed gritstone edges, sheltered woodland trails, and historic paths. Course sections include parts of the Pennine footpath and pass near Bamford, Hathersage, Curbar, Froggatt, and Stanage.

Facilities and services at the event include a fully marked and timed course, precision fuel and hydration outposts, online results, event photography, bag drop, a metal finisher medal, GPS tracking on the 50k route, food and drink, and free parking at the venue. Outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels, and electrolyte drink.

Race packs are collected at the registration tent on event morning. The 55 km route has a strict 10 hour time limit and outpost cut-offs are enforced. Mandatory kit is required for the 50k Ultra and Marathon; recommended items for all routes include a waterproof jacket, foil blanket, mobile phone, and at least 1 litre of water.
