The Maverick Peak District Trail 2026
The Maverick Peak District Trail takes place at Bakewell Showground in Derbyshire and uses routes that start at the showground before heading into the Peak District National Park. The course covers varied terrain including high moor, river valleys, sections of old railways, parts of the Pennine footpath and steep stone steps, with multiple summits and viewpoints along the routes.
There are three waymarked routes:
- Half Marathon: 28 km, +600 m elevation
- Middle: 10 km, +271 m elevation
- Short: 6 km, +111 m elevation
The Half Marathon route includes two outposts at about 8 km and 15.5 km. The Short route does not have an outpost. Outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink; the event aims to be cup free so participants should bring a cup or bottle. All runners are advised to carry at least 1 litre of water, a raincoat, a foil blanket and a mobile phone.
Race packs are not posted and can be collected at the showground on the evening before the event or from the registration tent on the morning. Free parking is available at the venue; the nearest train stations are Matlock, Buxton or Chesterfield, each about a 20 minute drive from the start. Online entry closes on Tuesday 26 May 2026 at 11:00am; on the day entry may be possible if the event is not sold out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
