INFERNO - Edale's Ring of Hell

INFERNO takes place in Edale in the Peak District and offers four trail distances over natural, often rough terrain. The route climbs from Edale up Ringing Roger and follows sheep tracks, muddy paths, rocky descents and includes a climb by a waterfall and several streams.

Distances and approximate elevation:

  • Ultra: 41 miles, +/- 10,000 ft
  • Marathon: 28 miles, +/- 6,800 ft
  • Half Marathon: 15.5 miles, +/- 4,000 ft
  • 10 miles: 10.5 miles, +/- 2,800 ft

The event is self-navigated; a GPX file and marked map are provided for download. Long unsupported sections occur on some courses, typically 10 to 15 miles between checkpoints, so competitors should carry sufficient water and supplies. Organisers can arrange a free reconnaissance run for a group if there is interest.

Included for participants are a finisher medal, staffed checkpoints with a variety of food and Mountain Fuel snacks, and a race director trained in first aid. Some kit requirements will be mandatory and published closer to the event; specific items required for the Ultra and Marathon include a bivi bag, waterproof jacket, basic first aid kit and at least 1000 ml of liquid. The event aims to reduce single-use waste and does not provide plastic cups at checkpoints. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
