Event overview

INFERNO - Edale's Ring of Hell offers four trail race distances in the Peak District, starting in Edale near the train station. The routes use sheep tracks, muddy paths and rocky descents and include stream crossings and a climb up a waterfall. The race is self-navigated; GPX files and maps with the marked route are provided for download. Checkpoints are stocked with a variety of food and Mountain Fuel gels, including vegan options, and drinks such as fizzy pop are available. Medals are provided for all finishers. Ultra and marathon entrants will carry trackers for safety.

Distances and ascent:

  • Ultra - 41 miles, 10,000 ft ascent
  • Marathon - 26.9 miles, 6,400 ft ascent
  • Half - 15.5 miles, 4,000 ft ascent
  • 10 miles - 10 miles, 2,700 ft ascent

Cut-off durations are published for each distance. Compulsory kit is required; some items listed as mandatory for ultra and marathon include a bivi bag, waterproof jacket, basic first aid kit and 1000 ml of liquid. Failure to carry mandatory kit may lead to disqualification. The event does not provide plastic cups at checkpoints to reduce waste. Venue is Edale Village Hall, S33 7ZA.
