INFERNO - Edale's Ring of Hell

INFERNO - Edale's Ring of Hell is a set of trail races in the Peak District, held in Edale on 22 August 2026. Routes run from village paths up onto open moor and peaks, using sheep tracks, muddy ground, rocky descents and a short climb by a waterfall. The courses are self navigated; GPX files and marked maps will be provided for download.

Distances and elevation:

  • Ultra 41 miles, 10,000 ft ascent
  • Marathon 26.9 miles, 6,400 ft ascent
  • Half 15.5 miles, 4,000 ft ascent
  • 10 miles 10.5 miles, 2,700 ft ascent

Runners should expect long unsupported sections, typically about 10 to 15 miles between checkpoints, and should carry sufficient water. Checkpoints are stocked with a variety of food including vegan options and soft drinks. Ultra and marathon entrants will carry trackers for safety and spectator tracking. The event provides medals for finishers, experienced sweepers, and a first aid trained race director. Entry fees include donations to local mountain rescue and to conservation bodies.

Some items must be carried on the ultra and marathon regardless of weather: a bivi bag, waterproof jacket, basic first aid kit, and at least 1000 ml of liquid. Organisers request participants bring a personal cup as plastic cups are not provided at checkpoints. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
