Event

INFERNO – Edale’s Ring of Hell is a trail race day on 22 August 2026, organised by Tough Trails Ltd and based at Edale Village Hall (S33 7ZA). Races start in Edale, about a five-minute walk from the local train station. The courses are set in the Peak District and use varied terrain including sheep tracks, muddy paths, rocky descents and a climb by a waterfall.

Distances and ascent:

  • Ultra - 41 miles, 10,000 ft ascent
  • Marathon - 26.9 miles, 6,400 ft ascent
  • Half - 15.5 miles, 4,000 ft ascent
  • 10 miles - 10 miles, 2,700 ft ascent

The event is self-navigated; GPX files and a marked map are available for download. Organisers will run social recces for each course and provide experienced sweepers. Checkpoints are stocked with Mountain Fuel gels, a variety of food including vegan options, and fizzy drinks. Ultra and marathon runners are provided with trackers for safety and spectator tracking. All finishers receive a medal. The event asks participants to carry compulsory kit (details on the organiser website) and to bring their own cup because plastic cups will not be provided at checkpoints. The event includes donations to local Mountain Rescue and to National Trust and Peak District National Park. Entries open 28 July 2025 and close 20 August 2026.
