INFERNO - Edale's Ring of Hell

INFERNO is a set of trail races held on 22 August 2026 from Edale Village Hall in the Peak District. Races start in Edale, about a five minute walk from the train station, and quickly lead up Ringing Roger via a steep ascent. The courses follow sheep tracks, muddy paths, rocky descents and include a climb up a waterfall that serves as an unofficial water station. The event is self navigated; GPX files and a marked map are available to download. Organisers run social recces for each course during the year. The event has generous cut offs and is open to runners and very fit walkers.

Distances and ascent:

  • Ultra 41 miles, 10,000 ft ascent
  • Marathon 26.9 miles, 6,400 ft ascent
  • Half 15.5 miles, 4,000 ft ascent

The entry package includes a medal for all finishers. Ultra and marathon entrants receive trackers for safety and spectator tracking. Checkpoints carry Mountain Fuel gels and a variety of food including vegan options, plus fizzy drinks. The event donates to Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, the National Trust and Peak District National Park. Experienced sweepers support the courses. No plastic cups are provided at checkpoints; participants must bring a drinking cup. A compulsory kit list is published by the organiser. Tough Trails buffs are available to purchase on race day for £5 cash. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
