Famous Grouse Fell Race : Birch Vale
The Famous Grouse Fell Race takes place in Birch Vale, New Mills, Derbyshire on Sunday 29 November 2026. It is described as a short Peak District fell race that follows the original route starting from the bottom of Moorlands Road.
The course distance is 8.4 km / 5.2 miles with a total climb of 335 m / 1,099 ft. Entry is on the day only, limited to a maximum of 125 runners and restricted to those aged 18 and over. Registration is available before the race at the Sycamore Inn, about a ten minute walk from the start. Entry fees on the day are £4.00 for FRA members and £5.00 for non-FRA members.
There is no mandatory kit requirement stated; participants are expected to equip themselves appropriately for a fell race in Derbyshire in November. Parking is available at the pub but may also be used by other visitors, and parking on Sycamore Road should be avoided. Results and prize giving are held in the pub after the race.
