The Maverick North Downs Trail 2026

The event in Cranleigh Showground, Surrey on 27 June 2026 offers five marked trail routes that use sections of the North Downs Way and traverse the Surrey Hills. Routes pass through ancient woodland and rolling fields, including Winterfold and Hurtwood Forest, Pitch Hill, Leith Hill and Ranmore Common. GPX and map files are provided for each route.

Outpost provision varies by distance. There is no outpost on the Short and Middle routes. The Half Marathon has one outpost with a toilet at about 12 km. The Marathon has three outposts at about 12 km, 19 km and 33.5 km. The 50k Ultra has four outposts and several staffed points along the route. Outposts provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks but not pre-filled water cups; runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle.

Cut-off points apply to the 50k Ultra and Marathon for safety and runners who do not reach them in time may be collected. Organizers strongly recommend not wearing headphones.

For safety, the 50k Ultra and Marathon require mandatory kit including a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, 800 calories of food, at least 1 litre of water, a foil blanket, whistle, self-adhering bandage, cap or buff, a reusable cup and a GPX of the route. All runners are recommended to carry a mobile phone and at least 1 litre of water. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
