The Maverick New Forest Gravel

The Maverick New Forest Gravel takes place at Holmsley Campsite in the New Forest National Park on Saturday 16 January 2027. Routes thread through ancient and young woodland, evergreen stands and open forest trails where New Forest ponies and deer may be encountered.

Three waymarked routes are offered:

• 22 km - +172 m elevation
• 12 km - +111 m elevation
• 6 km - +31 m elevation

The terrain is predominantly gravel and generally smooth, but the course includes wet sections, muddy patches and short sharp climbs. Outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks as a top up for runners; there is no outpost on the Short route. The event aims to keep outposts cup free, so runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle for refills.

Facilities listed for the event include free parking, a fully marked course, full timing with online results, event photography, food and drink, a bag drop area and a metal finisher medal. Organisers ask that runners aim to complete their route within four hours to reduce pressure on marshals.
