The Maverick New Forest Gravel event takes place on Saturday 17 January 2026 at Holmsley Campsite, Forest Road, Burley, Hampshire (BH23 7EQ). The event is organised by Maverick Race and is held on trails through New Forest National Park woodland. Trails are described as moderately smooth and generally covered with gravel. The route terrain includes young and mature evergreen and deciduous trees, occasional short steep slopes, and sections that can become wet and muddy. Participants collect race numbers at registration on the day. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. The event is dog friendly; a dog must be added to the entry to take part with a dog.

  • Middle - 12 km, +111 m elevation
  • Short - 6 km, +31 m elevation

There is no outpost on the Short route. The Middle route has one outpost at about 8.5 km. The Half Marathon has two outposts at approximately 8 km and 16 km. Outposts provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks but not pre-filled cups. Runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle for water refill from self-serve barrels. GPX and digital route files are available. Free parking, a fully marked course, timing and online results are provided. Experience moonlit trail running under headtorch on a scenic 10 km loop at Moors Valley Country Park, with the choice of one, two or three laps. Enjoy fluorescent markers and a Trees Not Tees option to plant a tree instead of a medal.

Join the Wessex Night League in Kings Worthy for a 60 minute touch free score orienteering across urban streets and wooded areas. Bring hi viz and lights; day entry allowed subject to limits and juniors under 16 must be accompanied.
