The Maverick East Sussex Trail 2026

The Maverick East Sussex Trail Run takes place on Saturday 11 April 2026 at Stanmer Park, Brighton BN1 9RH. The event is organised by Maverick Race and uses sections of the South Downs Way, including a route past Ditchling Beacon with views north to London and south to the coast.

Routes run over rolling, hilly terrain on hard-packed, mostly non-technical trails. Surface types include woodland walkways, chalky tracks and farmland paths. Course signage and marshals are provided; the course is fully marked and fully timed, with online results and event photography.

Distances:

  • Half Marathon: 21 km (elevation gain +457 m)
  • Middle: 13 km (elevation gain +339 m)
  • Short: 5 km (elevation gain +147 m)

Outposts and facilities are limited: no outpost on the Short route, one outpost on the Middle at about 8 km, and two outposts on the Half at about 8 km and 15 km. Outposts offer snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks but not prefilled cups; participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle and use self-serve water barrels. Toilets are provided at the start and finish area only. The event is dog friendly if a dog is added to the entry. Parking is pay and display at the University of Brighton Falmer, and Falmer station is a short walk to the venue. Headphones are strongly discouraged.
