Maverick Cotswolds Trail 2027
The Maverick Cotswolds Trail takes place on Saturday 22 May 2027 at Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, set within Britain’s largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The event uses routes that link the Cotswold Way and Winchcombe Way and runs through rolling hills, honey-stone villages, ancient woodland and open ridge lines.
Routes start from the historic grounds of Sudeley Castle and traverse a mix of flowing bridleways, steeper climbs, fast descents and quieter village trails. The course is fully marked and fully timed, with online results and event photography. Precision fuel and hydration outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink; the event aims to keep outposts cup-free so participants should bring a cup or bottle to refill. Free parking and a bag drop area are provided.
Available route distances and elevation gains:
- 50 km Ultra - elevation +1495 m
- Marathon - 42 km - elevation +1175 m
- Half Marathon - 23 km - elevation +580 m
- Middle - 11 km - elevation +302 m
- Short - 7 km - elevation +97 m
GPX files are published for each route. Mandatory kit requirements include at least 1 litre of water for all participants, with additional mandatory items for the Marathon and 50k Ultra such as a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, 800 calories of food, a foil blanket, whistle, self adhering elastic bandage, cap or buff and a reusable cup. The outposts act as top-ups rather than full supplies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
