The Maverick Cotswolds Trail takes place at Sudeley Castle and runs through the northern Cotswolds, within Britain’s largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The event uses established off-road trails that include bridleways, woodland tracks and open ridge lines.
The course follows sections of the Cotswold Way and Winchcombe Way and passes through honey-stone villages and ancient woodland. Runners will encounter a mix of flowing runnable sections, steep climbs that may require power-walking, and fast descents.
Distances offered:
- 50 km Ultra: +1495 m elevation
- Marathon (42 km): +1175 m elevation
- Half Marathon (23 km): +580 m elevation
- Middle (11 km): +302 m elevation
- Short (7 km): +97 m elevation
Support and facilities include fully marked routes, timing and online results, fuel and hydration outposts with sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink, event photography, bag drop, food and drink availability, free parking and a metal finishers medal. Outposts aim to be cup free so participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle. GPX route files are provided for each distance.
Mandatory kit guidance: the Ultra and Marathon require a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, about 800 Calories of food, a minimum of 1 litre of water, a foil blanket, whistle, self adhering elastic bandage, and a cap or buff. The Half Marathon requires a minimum of 1 litre of water. The trails are hard packed and include steeper hills; cutoff times apply on the longer routes.
