The Maverick Cotswolds Trail 2026

The Maverick Cotswolds Trail is a trail running event held at Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire (GL54 5LP). The routes depart from the Tudor castle and follow well established trails across a 1,200 acre estate, joining long distance paths such as the Winchcombe Way and the Cotswold Way. The course features undulating terrain, village sections and open countryside with notable historic sites along the way.

Outposts provide food and drink top ups: none on the Short route; one on the Middle route; two on the Half Marathon; four on the Marathon and Ultra. Outposts offer self-serve water barrels, snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks. Toilets are available at the start/finish area and at the penultimate outpost on the Long routes. The event operates a cup free policy at outposts and asks participants to carry a reusable cup or bottle.

Mandatory and strongly recommended equipment is set by route. Half Marathon requires at least 1 litre of water. Marathon and Ultra require items including a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, minimum 1 litre water, 800 calories, foil blanket, whistle, self adhering bandage, cap or buff, reusable cup and GPX route file.
