The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon

The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon is a 42km off road route that starts at Stanmer Park and crosses the South Downs before merging with the Brighton Marathon for the final 6km into a finish on Hove Lawns. The course includes woodland paths, chalk ridgelines and farmland tracks and reaches Ditchling Beacon, the highest point in East Sussex.

The route records approximately +902 m of elevation and combines flowing descents with testing climbs and undulating terrain. There are three outposts at about 12km, 22km and 37km offering snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks. Outposts use self serve water barrels so runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle. Toilets are available at the start and finish area and at the outposts.

Logistics and services include pay and display parking at the University of Sussex Falmer campus with an extra 15 to 20 minute walk to the event area, fully marked course, fueling stations, full timing and online results, on course photography, drop bag service, finishers medal and transport from the finish back to the start. Shuttle buses run approximately every five minutes in the afternoon to return runners from the finish. Participants must be over 18. Race packs are posted to UK addresses before 15 March or collected at specified pre race collection sessions. Essential kit guidance lists a waterproof jacket, 1 litre of water, 800 calories, a mobile phone, a GPX of the route and a reusable cup.
