The Brighton Trail Marathon
The Brighton Trail Marathon is a 42km off-road marathon that starts in Stanmer Park and follows trails across the South Downs before joining the Brighton Marathon for the final stretch into Hove Lawns. The course uses woodland walkways, chalk tracks and farmland paths and includes a climb up Ditchling Beacon, the highest point on the South Downs. The route lists total elevation of +902 m.
The event includes three outposts at approximately 12km, 22km and 37km offering snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks as top-ups. Outposts use self-serve water barrels so runners should carry a reusable cup or bottle; pre-filled water cups are not provided. Toilets are available at the start/finish area and at the outposts.
Race services include a fully marked and timed course, Precision Fuel & Hydration stations, on-course photography, a drop-bag service, finishers medal and transport from the finish back to the start. Race packs are posted to UK addresses before 15 March with estimated delivery between 2 March and 2 April; later entrants and international participants collect packs at specified pick-up times and locations.
Mandatory kit requirements include a waterproof jacket, at least 1 litre of water, 800 calories of food, a mobile phone, a GPX of the route and a reusable cup. Parking is pay & display at University of Sussex car parks and the nearest station is Falmer, about a 5–10 minute walk to the start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
