The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon
The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon is a 42km off-road race that starts in Stanmer Park and runs across the South Downs National Park before finishing on Hove Lawns in Brighton. The route includes woodland tracks, chalk ridgelines and farmland paths, with a total elevation gain of +902 m. Runners join the Brighton Marathon course for the final 6 km into the city.
The route features a notable ascent of Ditchling Beacon, the highest point in East Sussex, and a mix of singletrack, open hillside paths and flowing descents. There are three outposts on the course at approximately 12 km, 22 km and 37 km. The event operates cut-offs designed around a 6 hour 30 minute target; runners who pass the final outpost after its cut-off may complete the remaining distance on pavement rather than the road.
On-course support includes fully marked trails, precision fueling stations, toilets at start/finish and outposts, event photography, timing with online results and a drop bag service. Shuttle buses run frequently to transport runners from the finish back towards the start area. Race packs are posted to UK addresses before mid March or can be collected at specified collection times and locations. Entry is priced at £79 and participants must be 18 or older. Essential kit requirements include a waterproof jacket, 1 litre of water, 800 calories, a mobile phone, the GPX file and a reusable cup.
