The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon
The event is a 42 km off-road marathon that starts from Stanmer Park and runs across the South Downs National Park. The route uses woodland walkways, chalk ridgelines, singletrack and farmland paths, and includes a road ascent of Ditchling Beacon, the highest point in East Sussex. The course records an elevation gain of +902 m and finishes on Hove Lawns after merging with the Brighton Marathon course for the final 6 km.
On-course support includes three outposts at approximately 12 km, 22 km and 37 km offering sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks; outposts do not provide pre-filled cups so participants must use a reusable cup or bottle. Toilets are available at the start/finish area and at the outposts. Cut-off targets aim to complete the route in 6 hours 30 minutes with outpost cut-off times listed for 12 km, 22 km and 37 km; runners arriving at 37 km after the cut-off may continue on pavement rather than the road.
Logistics include posted race packs for UK addresses before 15 March and collection options for later or international entries, a bag drop service, event photography, fully marked and timed course, online results and shuttle buses to transport runners back from the finish. Participants must be 18 or older. The entry price is £79. Required kit includes a waterproof jacket, 1 litre of water, 800 calories, mobile phone, GPX of the route and a reusable cup.
