The Brighton Trail Marathon

This event features a 42 km trail marathon with 902 m of elevation gain. The race takes place in the South Downs, starting at Stanmer Park near Brighton.

Route Details

The course is described as featuring woodland walkways, chalky tracks, farmland paths, and a climb up Ditchling Beacon, the highest point on the South Downs. For the final 6 km, the route merges with the Brighton Marathon course, finishing on Hove Lawns.

Logistics and Facilities

The event offers a drop bag service for the finish line. There are three on-course outposts (aid stations) at approximately 12 km, 22 km, and 37 km, providing sweet and savory snacks, gels, and electrolyte drinks. Water is available via self-serve barrels; runners must use a reusable cup or bottle. Toilets are located at the start/finish and at the outposts.

Pay & display parking is available at several University of Sussex car parks. The nearest train station is Falmer, a 5-10 minute walk from the start. A finisher's medal is provided. Event photography is available on course, with finish line photos for purchase. Online results are published.

Entry Requirements

Entry costs £79 per person. Participants must be 18 years or older. A mandatory kit list includes a waterproof jacket, 1 litre of water, 800 calories of food, a mobile phone, a GPX route file, and a reusable cup.
