The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon

The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon in Stanmer offers a unique point-to-point course that transitions from the countryside to the city. The event is scheduled for April 2026 and features a marathon distance that combines trail running with a road finish.

The route begins in the woodland and hills of Stanmer Park. Participants navigate an off-road course through the South Downs, featuring chalk ridgelines, valleys, and rural trails. The terrain includes natural climbs and varied landscapes. In the latter section of the race, the course merges with the final stretch of the city-based Brighton Marathon road route. This transition brings runners from the rural trails toward the coast for a finish on Hove Lawns.

The event includes the following distance:

  • 42 km

Participants are required to be 18 years of age or older. The event provides chip-timed results, way-marked routes, and GPX files of the course. On-course support includes fully stocked outposts; however, runners must carry their own reusable cups for hydration. Additional services provided include a bag drop and official photography.

The event start/finish area is accessible via public transport, located approximately a 10-minute walk from Falmer train station. For those arriving by car, pay-and-display parking is available a short walk from the start area. Registration opens several hours before the first waves commence.
